The best in Ayrshire hands down. The selection of pies, meats & stir fry’s along with many others is the best selection I have ever seen in a butchers. The staff are second to none as well always happy to chat and welcoming. I can’t recommend the butchers highly enough.

Dry Pie!

I get a prime rib joint from this butcher every Christmas and it is always of top quality, even though I always have to get them to add a layer of fat to it, since there is never enough when it comes. God knows why. Few people seem to understand that fat equals flavour and also prevents the joint from being too dry when roasting.

However, this year I also ordered their apparently much sought after steak pie. Huge mistake. It was awful; dry with no gravy and the pastry was even drier, crumbling all over the kitchen like a bad case of eczema.

Whilst there was a generous amount of beef filling with no sausage to bulk it out, this was bland and under seasoned and I eventually gave up.

I did save enough meat to put by and make my own gravy and I'll probably make a proper pie with it next week so all is not lost.

But, hand on heart, if anyone was asking me about buying one of these in the future, I would say avoid at all costs.

These pies are pricey and poor value apart from the quantity of meat.

Better value to be had at ALDI.

Best butcher in Ayrshire with the kindest hearts. Not only are their products first class, but they have been helping the vunerable in our community since the pandemic began and continue to do so. They should be proud of all they do.
