Fabulous versatile cheese that can be used for a variety of dishes. Worked best in pickle sandwiches and egg teacakes, but lovely in any situation. Really nice people making yummy cheese, what's not to like 🙂
I did go to town trying it in every use i could think of. Much enjoyment ensued.

Nice farm shop with quality produce. The cheese they make is excellent and other products such as butter, ham, hand made chutneys, strawberries, raspberries, apples are all of very good quality. I believe it's a family business and the people are very courteous and welcoming. Definitely recommended.⁸

Lovely little shop tucked away on a country lane. Had previously bought some of their cheese at a local market. It's near Trosley CP, so after a morning dog walk we called in to buy some Winterdale Shaw and Stichelton. Fabulous cheese and really friendly staff.

This such a special location.
We purchased a 500g ( half a kilo) of Winterdale Shaw cheddar as a tester. It is special with a distinct aroma (my wife describes it as old shed, “affectionately “)that demands a return to the cheese board. This cheese is worth the visit in it’s own right never mind the other offerings in the shop. In the shop there is a great view of the dairy where the cheese is produced.

If you visit take along some bottles for the fresh milk it will be worthwhile, when we visited there was a queue of locals with their dogs collecting milk, that says it all for us.

We will return for Winterdale Shaw to add to our Christmas hampers.

The local produce is first class. Winterdale not only make cheese - the smoked is gorgeous - but support other English cheesemakers, so although the selection may be small, the taste beats all. Well worth seeking out. The eggs straight from the hens are magic.
