So...my new Hayter Harrier 41/376A electric start mower arrived today. First Hayter I have owned, it may well be the last! Purchased on line from a Hayter dealer. Upon arrival all seemed well until it came to the battery start function. The push button was not fitted but instead was cable tied to the handle. There is no mention at all regarding the start button within the manual, all there is, is a very small obscure sticker on the handle. No matter what I tried I could not get the button to fit. I had to contact Hayter customer service. Unfortunately the guy at Hayter couldn't understand the problem so asked me to email photos to him. He advised that I take the mower to an authorized repair agent , some miles away. Into the car went the very expensive mower. The repair agent couldn't understand how the mower could be shipped with the start button separate from the unit. Upon inspection he concluded that the whole assembly was very poorly made, flimsy and needed replacing. He also could not find any reference to it in the manual. It will take at least a week to get the mower repaired plus the inconvenience of delivering / collecting it. This is a £800 plus mower not a cheap " no name" unit. I bought this to replace my 18 year old Honda which has been brilliant. It's a shame but I feel Hayter are relying on their name not on the quality of their products. Be sensible...buy a Honda!

Ok. I've just bought a Hayter Auto Drive Mower from my local Dealer.
Warning. If you buy online, be very carefull as these units need assembly and a pre delivery inspection. This might not happen for online purchased units. The Battery powered units need similar assembly and pdi. When discussing with my local Dealer, he said they all can be tricky to assemble and some need minor adjustment for them to work correctly.
You may save a few quid buying online but you may live to regret it. My Dealer delivered my new Mower, showed me all the features of the Mower and made sure I was happy before he left. You don't get that online.....

Worst customer service I have experienced by far! My parents had issues with their 2 year old Hayter mower which has had on-going problems since they purchased from their local shop. The shop does not want to get to the root of the issue but continue to charge over the top for faulty repairs. My parents paid out a large sum of money only to have added costs to faulty product. I have now dumped the mower and decided to go for a different brand. Hayter is not the brand it used to be.

Dont buy a Hayter online, Hayter stop my local lawnmower shop buying them for his customers because hes not a agent.
So I got a 56 pro online, it arrived with one bloke, no pallet trolly, no sack barrow.
He dropped it off the back and virtually rolled it to my front door.
He managed to bend the bull bars against the wheels, which were also broken and the machine was rocking, rather than staying flat.
what a waste of time.

Machine quality is poor compared to 20 years ago. Not worth the money at all. Shoddy manufacturing. Cheap components from China, high profits for Hayter, consumer mugs paying high price tag! Returned my mower with a 25% restocking fee..shameless! Purchased a Stihl RM545VR Rollermower instead with 5 years Warranty. Thank yo very much.
