We had a great days fishing . We both caught plenty of fish in the spring pools which is very beginner friendly with lots a fish . My friend had never picked up a fly rod before and went home very happy with three great conditioned hard fighting rainbows. I tackled the stalking pools and caught a great looking brownie and a spartic trout which I’ve never caught before. Will definitely be back in the future to tackle the trenches which has some monster trout that we spotted when we had a walk round. Peter the fishery owner is a great guy and very helpful.

Brilliant. We visited on 29 Oct 2020. First time at Thornwood and my fly fishing being a bit rusty I was not sure what to expect of the day. Honestly, Peter has a really good variety of trout in his ponds, it was an active day with 12 fish caught between the 2 of us. The advise Peter gives was most helpful. If you are looking for some good fly fishing in the Essex / M25 area give this place a go, we will be back - hopefully soon.

Visited this trout fishery for the first time.
One lake was very weeded i used a very light weight fly but still catching the weed.
But all in all a very well kept professional run trout fishery.
I did comment to the owners daughter that the first lake i attempted to fish. She did say yes that lake is rather weeded up. Of which i should of been told before i paid.
Then i was told i could fish any of the lakes i wanted to didnt catch. So i decided to call it a day.
Then the gentleman who owns the fishery Peter, came over to chat to me.
Very professionally knowledgeable guy and very polite, explained the situation and refunded me almost half or my ticket price.
I can honestly say a professionally well groomed run trout fishery,
Would give it ago again.

Excellent fishery. Exciting fishing. Lovely setting on the outskirts of Epping Forest. Lots of wildlife seen Kingfisher, Heron, Dragonflies as well as fish! Great facilities. Peter is a friendly, knowledgeable and helpful owner. I really enjoyed my day and will be back.

Went there one day today and caught my first ever on the fly rod. Very clean and well maintained, lovely people managing the whole lot, totally beyond expectation! The fish is in my belly now but managed to took some photos of the view. Will visit again!

I have been fishing here before when I spent a day by myself with some great assistance and advice from Peter. I brough my 10 year old son here for a World Fishing Day Event. We had a lovely day with John as our coach who was very patient and knowledgable, thank you John! I caught 2 lovely rainbows and as my son was fishless at 6 the coach at the next post hooked 2 and allowed him to land them, thank you again. We had 3 casts left before home time and my son caught his 1st trout from cast to net at about 7PM!! A lovely day in a beautiful place, we shall be back.
