I recently had an eye test and contact lens fitting at Theale Eyecare and Hearcare and was very impressed with the entire experience. My optician, Khai and his colleague were incredibly diligent throughout the appointment.

He conducted both a comprehensive eye test and as well as a contact lens fitting. He took the time to explain each step of the process clearly and answered any questions that I had.

I would highly recommend a visit to this lovely practice for anyone looking for excellent eye care.

Update!!
2 years on from my original post.
I visited again yesterday. 10 minutes after my appointment time, Kai called me to find out where i was... my laptop had not reminded me! 20 minutes later, their calendar had been jiggled, and I was straight in for optical tests then a nice new pair of specs. I was looked after superbly during the whole visit.
Today, Kai called me in to collect new specs. Wow I was not expecting such a quick service!
I would highly recommend 'Theale Eyecare and Hearcare' for a friendly and personal service and I'd much rather pay an independent rather than a nation chain.

Yesterday I visited as my ageing eyes are not so great at near vision. Staff are all so friendly and professional! Simon suggested maybe not bring my wife to choose glasses frames as she will select a pair that she likes and not necessarily what I like! I'm going to take my kids instead - they will be (brutally) honest!

Very friendly and welcoming, latest equipment for thorough eye testing, sound advice, drinks offered while you wait. A great range of frames. Treatment available for NHS patients at superb private Clinic.
Highly recommended. It’s a relief to find superb expert advice and to be reassured of great treatment and service.

Amazing service from Khai and Co. Extremely thorough examination carried out with explanations along the way. No hard sell on buying frames, and went the extra mile to post my glasses to me in France. They even followed up by email to ensure I had received them and that they worked as expected. (I had, and they did!)

I would have no hesitation in recommending these guys, at all. 10/10.

The staff are so friendly, welcoming and professional.
My new spectacles have changed my life, its my first try at varifocals and after I had been giving advice and instructions I was very pleased with the result.

We have used these independent Opticians in Theale for many years. The business has been taken over by new partners since the pandemic, always a concern when dealing with a new healthcare provider.
Khal who deals with appointments, helps with frame selection and fitting and general advice is very knowledgeable about most things eye-care, he ‘bent over backwards’ to be helpful to my wife when we had to cancel the eye test with next to no notice. He was aware of the urgency of completing the fitting before I underwent Cataract surgery (also organised by Khal) and completed the fitting less than a week after the eye test.
Ali the Optometrist was both professional and thorough while not rushing my eye examination.
The service we received from ETH was exemplary and underscores the benefits of supporting a local independent business.
