You don't have to be a fan of the books or tv series to find this interesting, but of course that does help. This is the actual home and veterinary surgery of James Alfred Wright, the real life James Herriot. A lot of effort has gone in to making this a fascinating place to visit. There are rooms that have been restored to how they would have been in the 1940's, a reproduced tv studio, memorabilia, veterinary instruments collection and much more. Good value and suitable for all ages.

Love watching all creatures great and small, so this was an excellent visit to the house in Thirsk. All laid out as if they've never left interesting snippets for everyone to read and some hands-on fun things to do on top floor. Glad we came thankyou

Step back into another in this small yet appropriately sized museum that combines the James Herriot stories and the story of the Vet and author Alf Wight with a veterinary museum all under the same roof (so as to speak). Well worth a visit, there is an ample gift store attached to the museum. I would allow at least 90 minutes to do the exhibitions and the film justice.
