The venue exudes elegance and refined charm, with beautiful natural light flooding the spaces. The gardens are equally stunning, perfectly maintained and full of character, offering even more amazing spots to capture memorable moments.

The team run the day with impeccable professionalism, ensuring everything flows smoothly while making sure everyone feels genuinely cared for and at ease. The food is delicious too.

If you are looking for a venue where the views are simply epic and the experience is flawless, The Upper House Barlaston is a fantastic choice. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

My partner and I had our wedding at The Upper House in April 2025 and we truly had the perfect day.

When it came to the planning, nothing was too much hassle for Ellie and the team. Despite all the emails I sent to help plan out big day, all my emails were replied to in a timely manner and I felt very taken care of.

We had the pleasure of staying at The Upper House the night before the wedding meaning we had an extra night to enjoy the beautiful rooms and stunning views on offer.

We got married at Keele Chapel and returned to The Upper House to enjoy the rest of our special day. Caitlin and Jo and the team were seamless in their service and which meant we were able to fully relax and enjoy it.

We decided not to attend a food tasting as we don't live local and we had heard such great reviews of the food and I have to say, The Upper House absolutely lived up to those reviews. The food was delicious and enjoyed by everybody. We were also able to choice 3 options for our guests to choose from as part of our package.

The weather meant that all of our guests were able to enjoy the beautiful gardens and it meant we were able to get some stunning photos on the grounds.

By the evening reception, we were all having so much fun and it really capped off the perfect day. I didn't even get to try the buffet as I was too busy dancing but I was told by my guests that the food was really nice!

Overall, we would 100% recommend The Upper House as wedding venue. They truly excelled in every aspect making our day everything we wanted it to be.

The Upper House is a few minutes from the M6 and the perfect location as a stopover between north and south. There are a lot of hotels in this area because of the location, and one of my regulars has priced themselves out so I tried this hotel for the first time. I booked a small single room and was pleased to find a double bed with a shared balcony. Dinner and breakfast were excellent. I went for a stroll in the gardens which are beautiful, and it has an interesting history which the owners are keen to share with guests. It's a smallish family owned and obviously cared for property. I will definitely go back.

We took the whole family to the Upper House for Sunday Lunch to celebrate Fathers day for Dad/Grandad.|We are local to the hotel and have been many times before, so it’s easy to take the beautiful building, gardens and views for granted, but in June it really is spectacular. |As always the food was superb and the service was excellent. It’s not easy to serve quality food efficiently to a large party, but the Upper House manage it with a smile on their faces.|Thanks to all the staff for making our day so special, the whole family love it here.

We stayed at the upper house for two weeks, this was our second time at this property and we’re so happy that we’d already booked for 2026 before we left. Everything from the location, grounds and staff was perfect for us. Easy access to the motorway, A34 & A500 for trips to Wales the Lakes and the Peak District. If you stay for 1 night or 14 you won’t be disappointed.

Our stay here would have been perfect except for the noise from an event in the hotel. Our bathroom wall was vibrating and there wasn’t much chance of the peaceful relaxation we were hoping for. There was also noise from the seating area outside, meaning we were unable to open our windows despite the warm temperatures.
We had received no previous notification of this and if we had would not have booked in the first place. The following morning I told the receptionist of our disappointment and was told I would hear from the manager after he had returned from holiday but it is almost three weeks now and we’ve heard nothing.

Absolutely first class facility. Dining experience excellent. Staff are cheerful, helpful, patient and accommodating. Rooms are cozy and comfortable. Garden is beautiful with outdoor seating. Bella the cat is a perfect greeter on arrival. Just a short walk to Wedgwood.

This is the place to stay for a relaxing weekend, a walk in the country along the canal or to visit Wedgwood which is a short stroll away. The facility is beautiful, the common rooms exquisitely furnished, the dining experience second to none, the grounds beautifully landscaped with outdoor seating providing an enthralling view of the surrounding countryside, and the rooms comfortable and cozy. The staff are cheerful, helpful, and accommodating. We couldn’t have been more delighted. The house mistress, Bella the cat, is a perfect greeter when you arrive!
