Norfolk Brewhouse (operating under the brand name Moon Gazer Ales) is a fantastic local brewery based in rural North Norfolk. I've had the pleasure of tasting their beer on many occasions and it is really special (as in fact their multiple awards testify!). The owners, brewer and all the staff are extremely friendly and dedicated to what they do. They supply many pubs in Norfolk with their regular amber, golden and ruby brews, and they're not shy of a special edition, or a collaboration beer either. I've photographed for them for a couple of years now and seeing them in action and behind the scenes has been just brilliant. A more genuine business, and one that is excellent at what it does, you couldn't hope to find.

Took a detour on my way home from Well Next The Sea, was well worth the trip.

The drive entrance does have a sign but it could easily be missed, the pin location was good.

Picked up over a dozen different beers to try, they made up a mixed crate for £30 and I grabbed a few Bob's Tail on top.

I purchased a 5 litre mini keg of Jumper direct from the brewery shop between Christmas and New Year and was looking forward to drinking it with friends on New Years Eve. I dropped it into their house, which is only a few miles away, and we left it somewhere cool and dark where it could easily be accessed without the need to move it again. I've purchased many such mini kegs from other breweries and am well aware how to handle and store them. Nevertheless, I always follow the instructions on each one just in case they are different. As soon as I opened this keg I was concerned as there was no release of air whatsoever. Normally there is about half a pint or so of froth but in this instance there was nothing, just a completely flat and unappetising looking liquid. It tasted just about ok so we mixed it with a couple of bottles of Jumper my friend had just to give it some life. After a couple of pints we agreed that it wasn't really drinkable so I drained the rest into the sink which was probably about six pints or so. Again, in my previous experience, it is only about the last half pint or so which is undrinkable due to the yeast. However, after only draining a small quantity away large amounts of yeast/sediment started appearing and I'm glad we stopped drinking it.

A week or so later I called the brewery and spoke with a lady explaining what had happened. She asked me for a batch number so I said I would contact my friends to see if they still had the keg. Sadly they had already recycled it. I called back and informed the lady of such, she then proceeded in a somewhat condescending manner to explain the differences between live and bright beers. I tried to reply that I was well aware of the difference having had many such kegs from other breweries but she clearly wasn't listening and by this time I was getting the distinct impression that the customer always being right wasn't something the brewery believes in. I was promised another call back but this was never forthcoming. I am bitterly disappointed (pun intended) as I love trying new beers from local breweries but will definitely not be purchasing from here again.

Fantastic brewery. Stayed nearby on holiday, and called in to buy a couple of mixed boxes of their beer. Very friendly people (and dog!), and the beers are fantastic.
