Excellent home made food by Jackie and the team. We recently did an internal marquee in the foyer and the cafe really looked after us the whole time we were there.

I'd usually head into the centre of Thirsk and have a Wetherspoons breakfast but did a quick Google search and came across the Gavel Cafe. Large breakfast (three bacon, sausage, two eggs, beans, mushrooms, toast) was huge and probably one of the only times I couldn't clear my plate. Breakfast and large coffee came to only £8.75, which must be better valve than Spoons. The cherry on the top is it's dog friendly. Don't know if this place has recently opened or I've just missed it but I'll definitely be back.

I’ve been numerous times. Even to the wake of a funeral of a dear friend. Excellent service from very friendly and caring staff. And if I could give them more than five stars, I would! Outstanding!!!

Terrible food
Breakfast was
2 cold slices of bacon under cooked
2 small sausage
Cold beans
No tomatoes
Mushrooms well done but soggy and dripping in whatever liquid
Tea average but over milked
Cold toast

The place was horrendous
Staff to busy talking about toilet habits instead of making sure of a pleasantly nice breakfast
