Came for Sunday lunch with my partner and his grandma. The exquisite Sunday roast was absolutely delicious - with tender beef, perfectly seasoned veg, cauliflower cheese and a big fluffy Yorkshire pudding. We were planning on trying a pudding too before we came but after the roast we just didn't have the room! The service was great and the pub was very clean and tidy. Very impressed and we will visit again!

I came in for Lunch with a friend and my 1 year old hoping for a chilled, inexpensive meal. The service was solid but the main sticking point was the prices. I understand the cost of everything has increased but £20 for a chicken Caesar salad is ridiculous. £16 without chicken for some lettuce, dressing, parmesan and very stale, chewy croutons is laughable. The food has to be pretty good to justify those prices but it was distinctly average.

The food is fantastic, with good service. The head chef and sous chef created a very happy mouth watering experience for us with the very tasty and perfectly cooked racks of lamb, the pudding was spectacular too, a big cheers to Charlie and his team.

Disappointing Family Meal Experience

We visited The Eltisley for a family birthday celebration. A few of our family members had dined here previously and had a fantastic experience, which is why we chose this venue.

Unfortunately, our experience this time was far from positive.

Although our drinks and food orders were taken promptly, we waited around 45 minutes for our main courses. There was a function taking place during our visit, but we weren’t informed that it might cause delays.

When our meals finally arrived, they looked promising, but several dishes were either burnt or overcooked and ultimately inedible. The garlic bread from the children's menu, for example, was nothing more than burnt sliced shop-bought toast. We sent it back and asked for a replacement, but what we received instead was simply toast with olive oil and herbs — not remotely garlic bread. Even the server wasn’t sure what it was meant to be.

One family member ordered the crispy chilli beef, which was severely overcooked and visually unappealing. It was removed from our bill, along with the garlic bread, but unfortunately, we didn’t take photos to show the condition of the food.

I had the chicken breast, which was edible but bland. It was supposed to come with pancetta — I received one tiny lardon. The accompanying squash purée was watery and resembled soup. We ate most of the food simply because we were extremely hungry after the long wait.

We then ordered desserts, which took another 40 minutes to arrive. Some were also burnt and inedible. The vanilla ice cream had an odd, perfume-like taste, and my daughter’s sticky toffee pudding included a large piece of burnt honeycomb. The Baileys crème brûlée was underwhelming and lacked flavor.

When we raised our concerns, we were told that the chef was new and had only been working there for two weeks.

Sadly, we won’t be returning.

On a positive note, all the staff we interacted with were friendly and polite, which we appreciated.

Great Sunday lunch at a reasonable price. I’ve been here several times for food but never stayed as it’s local so can’t comment on the rooms but the grub is great.
