The Doe has become our new local! We absolutely love it here, Fabio and Zoe are the warmest hosts and the atmosphere is always a buzz. We have eaten in the evenings, at brunch and popped in for just a drink and always delicious and creative food for good value. Their wine list has lots to choose from and the team are always able to help when I’m unsure which I may like, or if I fancy a taste to check. The beers on draft equally are a hit, with very affordable pricing for local beers. The Doe is always a highlight on our weekends. ✨🥂

Gorgeous setting and the food is absolutely exceptional. Super high quality ingredients and fantastic flavour combinations, everything was cooked to a high standard and really delicious.
We came for a birthday dinner and had a couple of plates each but ended up sharing so we could taste everything! The crab asparagus combo was a big hit, also the mussels, and I cannot recommend the white chocolate pistachio mousse enough.
We also had the Orange wine, which was a great pairing.
Finally the atmosphere deserves a note: staff are genuinely very welcoming and the decor gives the restaurant a really calming but elegant vibe.
Locals are all talking about Doe, and it’s certainly one of the best places to eat locally right now, but it’s so good it won’t be kept secret for long!

Great addition to Buckfastleigh, open from Thursday to Sunday, breakfasts and brunches and then small plates ( very generous though) for lunch and until the evening. Great food well prepared, fab selection of wines and some nice beers on tap. Lovely mellow decor, cool in summer, with a great wood burning stove in the winter 10/10 from me!

We come to The Doe regularly. I like the atmosphere, Fabio’s team are always attentive, there is a thoughtful wine list and the food is consistently excellent. I had a wonderful birthday party with drinks and sharing food here at the back of the venue.
I’ve had two nice meals with friends more recently, the menu was different each time with plenty of options for veggies and vegans. Definitely come and enjoy sharing plates for dinner. Ask for wine recommendations, Fabio knows his onions.

I’ve always wondered what my “death row last meal” would be, well today I found out. Pasta of the week from The Doe, pasta, cooked perfectly, with asparagus from the Wye Valley, cooked perfectly, with capers and Parmesan! Washed down with a pint of ice cold Devon Rock! I love everything about this place ❤️

What a gem! Beautifully decorated, welcoming and friendly and with an atmosphere with just the right level of buzz. The menu is impressive for those who appreciate locally sourced quality food and the staff are knowledgeable about the wines and beers. I selected one of the best cheeseboards I’ve ever had accompanied by a beautiful crisp wine recommended by Fabio, the host.
I will definitely be returning as often as possible. Fab!
