Reviewing my first visit to The Deer Park for a festive afternoon tea. The selection and quality of the afternoon tea was excellent. Everything was super fresh and tasty. Good afternoon teas are rare these days, and the festive twist is an added delight. The cafe is sensitively decorated for the barn building and is very homely and welcoming. Sadly, service was lacking. From no greeting at the waiting desk, to abrupt waiting staff who seemed to think questions were an inconvenience. Despite pre-booking we waited over half an hour for our afternoon to arrive. Despite being told the afternoon tea was served with 2 hot drinks, there was no attention paid to us by any waiting staff to order the second drink, so we didn’t bother. The turnover of tables involved crumbs and mess being wiped onto the floor for customers to walk over. Overall, a frosty atmosphere. I first came to learn about The Deer Park through their supper clubs. I’m unsure whether I’ll pay a return visit.

This was a great little find
. Good cafe offering cold or hot food. Nice seating area outside. No cover though if raining. Lovely view of the rolling hills. Good farm shop selling produce from the farm. The walk is three miles around the deer enclosure and through the woodland.

Excellent food and service. Good outside area for dogs and woodland walk. It was a pity that the trial that was done for having dogs inside an area of the cafe wasn't continued as I had to leave my dog in the car.

I visited the Deer Park today with high hopes for a pleasant walk and a good coffee experience. Unfortunately, our visit was marred by several issues that made it a disappointing outing.

Firstly, the walkways were poorly maintained, overgrown with blackberry vine thorns, making it difficult to walk without getting caught. This lack of upkeep made what should have been a relaxing walk quite frustrating.

The most concerning issue, however, was our experience at the cafe. We ordered a raspberry shortbread bake, only to discover it had mould on it after taking a few bites. When we brought this to the attention of the staff, their response was dismissive. We received no sincere apology and were merely offered a 10% discount on our food. Given the severity of the issue, we should have been offered a more substantial gesture of goodwill.

Additionally, the quality of the baked goods was subpar; they were stale and clearly not fresh. This was very unfortunate because the Deer Park has a great farm shop and meat section, which is completely let down by the poor quality of the cafe offerings and the lackluster customer service.

I am a person who never complains, but today's incident compelled me to as this is a serious health risk. I know the risks of ingesting mould and how harmful it can be to your health. I sincerely hope this doesn’t lead to any such issues, nevertheless a sincere apology and a more substantial compensation should have been provided. We hope that the management takes these issues seriously and improves both the maintenance of the walkways and the quality and service of the cafe.

We loved it here. Went today with our dog. We took the longer dog walk route and it was quiet and peaceful. On our walk we saw a pretty pond and some deer. This was a little muddy as we have had rain but still walkable. There are some lovely shops to visit including a beautiful farm shop, a cafe and a dog treat shop to name some. Everyone very friendly and helpful. The dogs aren't allowed into the cafe but there is a seating area outside you can use if you have a dog with you. We will definitely visit again.

Booked in advance for 1230 on a Sunday, for 7 people. No mention was made that we could only reserve if having two course set Sunday roast dinner. On arrival initially told we could not select off Lite bite menu as we had planned and budgeted for. After some discussion an exception was made but manager was clearly not happy with the situation. Food and service from then on good but would be cautious another time going without a reservation, for Lite bite menu, with a party this size in case there was no space.
