We arrived last night close to the end of food service, after a very long day and mid travel back home. The staff were still super friendly and welcoming, found us a table and service was fantastic. The food came out fresh, hot, and very tasty. All round a great experience.

Popped in here for lunch, party of four plus two dogs. Very friendly staff, freshly cooked food and delicious desert. They had a vegetarian menu and doggy menu which were nice touches. I had the lentil and cauliflower pie from the specials board which was lovely. Will definitely recommend paying them a visit.

This is the first pub I have visited that has a parking space designated for a tractor! Historic old pub situated on a busy junction for various places of interest in the Peak District. I have visited several times over the years and today I enjoyed the vegan chicken roast dinner. The meat eaters chose the lamb roast dinners and commented that the meat portions were generous - all roast dinners came with a good variety of vegetables. My husband went for the cod loin with gnocchi and children both opted for the pizza, chips and beans from the kids menu. We were all too full for pudding. Friendly and attentive service.

Came to the peaks for a week away and found the anchor inn nearby.
Food was great and they had a separate vegan/veggie menu which is fantastic.
We ended up going for a vegan homity pie and a cheesecake which we both really enjoyed.
Really fast service, nice atmosphere and good location!

Really nice pub, with a separate vegan and vegetarian menu which is why we picked to go there. We picked the vegan homity pie, which was nice but not exceptional, it lacked flavour. The staff were friendly but didn’t come and check if our meal was okay, didn’t clear our plates or offer the dessert menu, and didn’t even ask if we’d had a nice meal when we paid at the bar.

If you want a hearty pub lunch after a walk, friendly faces, cosy atmosphere and delicious food, definitely head here. The value for money, portion size and taste is 10/10. Highly recommend the chilli prawn starter - best starter I might have ever had in a pub setting.

Stuffed mushrooms were nice, Cajun onion rings were awesome. Bean burger was a mock meat patty with beans though flavors were very nice. Vegan Cajun chicken was dry. Good with sauce. Ginger beer was from Fever-Tree.
