Mars bars cream cheese brownie is excellent. I usually am quite reserved with high praise, esp sweet stuff but this stunned. The fudgey texture was great and there's a variety of textures and flavours inside. Cream cheese was savoury but would have been a little more generous, otherwise it tends to get overwhelmed by the chocolate. Rather expensive tho for the small piece

Coffee was well liked by my dining partner but I found it still a little acidic.

Must try, although their items are on rotations for example the scones weren't available on Saturday

Update:
Their average standard is not as good as what I had the first time.

Hot cross focaccia was an interesting experiment but the bread was not a focaccia, closer to cinnamon texture, the hot cross part is ok. The bread did not have a good texture so overall it was not satisfactory

Carrot cake was ok but the cream frosting had this slight plastic smell. Also too sweet

Apple treacle tart was way too sweet

Cheesecake was just whipped cream cheese with a base, being what it is ofc it's not too bad but it gets surfeiting really quickly

The average standard of the bakery is severely lacking for a place that changes their bakes daily and have no plans for when each item is coming back. The only guarantee is that everyday they have some cake, some brownie and some scone I think? Nothing else is fixed

This kind of maximum uncertainty places are really only worth visiting if they guarantee that they execute everything they make at a high level

Also all the bakes are expensive

This is a great spot to rest your weary feet if you’ve been walking around all day and re-energize with really good coffee drinks, and delicious in house baked desserts. Sinful dessert.😉😋

Offering a variety of delicious sweet baked goods, this place is sweet tooth haven, the menu seems to be changing regularly. The coffee was also excellent.

This has been my favourite bakery in Edinburgh for some time. The counter is always full of fun treats and they're incredibly creative constantly trying new things, it's very difficult to choose what to buy when I go in.
I felt compelled to write a review because today as I came in there was a customer who was being rude and obnoxious and I was incredibly impressed but how they handled the situation and how patient they were. They showed this person a lot more empathy than I think I would have.

My terrible photo doesn’t do the products justice, they were delicious! Pictured here are the dulce de leche malteser meringue biscuits and the Vietnamese coffee buns (though I may have got the names slightly wrong as it’s been a few days since purchasing!)

I emailed the bakery just before they reopened to see if they definitely did takeaway for all their products, as I’d planned on surprising my partner on his birthday with a coffee and some baked treats. When they replied they explained how they have boxes, bags etc etc so yes it was all takeaway friendly. Unfortunately my partner spoiled the plan by booking an all day bus tour starting at 8am on his birthday (eyeroll haha) so I nipped in the day before for baked goods instead. I was nervous because I have ridiculous anxiety, and the lady that served me was lovely - she was patient and wasn’t annoyed about the fact that I was stress reading the menu and not really taking any of it in. This really is important to me because I literally NEVER go into bakeries, small cafes etc etc by myself because of the anxiety it causes, it has helped boost my confidence going into small establishments. She told me which product was which and was truly just a lovely person to briefly interact with. So, thank you!

The price was good, the bakes were delicious, and the birthday boy was well chuffed with the surprise! We will definitely be coming again next time we come to Edinburgh!

among all the many, many (MANY) bakeries in edinburgh, this is one of the realest of deals. a cornucopia of treats in a little hole in the wall place in a slightly out-of-the-way (unless you’re an art student or office worker) area of the city. i had a salted triple chocolate cookie that was the baked equivalent of sniffing a cat’s head (if you know, you know. if you don’t, substitute cat for creature whose head you like to sniff). my companion had a carrot cake slice which was delicious as well. the service was excellent: they were very kind to provide a little box for our leftovers and to fill my water bottle from their tap. the interiors are cosy without being gloomy, and decorated with lovely lino print art (with the artist helpfully labelled so you can scroll their instagram while you eat). truly an excellent stop on our way to raid second hand bookshops. worth a special trip!

They offer delicious home-baked pastries, stunning cakes, tray bakes, truffles, sweet and savory scones, epic brownies, soups of the day, and sandwiches, along with great locally roasted coffee. The selection varies daily based on demand and season. Since I couldn't try everything in one go, I chose a coconut scone and a biscoff cake, accompanied by a hot chai latte. It satisfied my breakfast cravings, but additional savory options would have been awesome too.

Don't let the name fool you – Tasty Buns Bakery is the REAL DEAL.

Delicious sweet and savoury treats? All day long! Warm, inviting cafe space with way more room than you'd expect? It's like a hidden oasis! Staff that make you feel like a regular, even on your first visit? Absolutely their superpower! This place is what Edinburgh's food scene is all about.

I love how Tasty Buns is unpretentious. It's all about the food, the friendly vibe, and giving you that boost you need in the middle of a busy day. The cakes and baked goodies are the obvious stars, but don't sleep on their coffee – pairs perfectly with a brownie or one of those giant cookies.
Big respect to the staff. Baking ain't easy, especially right now, but they always have a smile on their faces.

I've been a customer when Tasty Buns has had a pop-up at a local event, I've been a bespoke/online order customer, and I've been the store. Never had a bad experience; always had good food.

Special note: If you've got a sweet tooth, this place is dangerous. If you like supporting local businesses, it's mandatory. If you need a spot to catch your breath during the Edinburgh madness, look no further! Tasty Buns delivers on all fronts, and those buns...well, the name doesn't lie. Get in there and taste for yourself!
