I attempted to buy a packet of FFP2 respirators from Swiftpak's website. However, the price was not visible unless I created an account. I prefer not to share my digital contact details with businesses and so was unable to assess whether I wanted to complete the purchase.
The frustration of this process brought to mind a 20-minute video I saw on YouTube about SwiftPak Limited, that appears to show its managing director physically confronting and verbally insulting a photojournalist.
The managing director of Swiftpak is shown calling the emergency services and telling two falsehoods to the operator:
1. that the photojournalist is attempting or intending to enter the business' premises.
2. that the photojournalist is operating an Unmanned Air Vehicle on the business' premises without a license.
There is a second video that shows a police officer recounting the allegations made by Swiftpak staff to the emergency services. These include:
1. that the photojournalist was "belligerent".
2. "refusing to put the drone away" resulting in Swiftpak staff "having to physically stop" the photojournalist from entering the premises.
Neither video - which appear to faithfully record the incidents in question - shows any of the actions alleged by Swiftpak's managing director as happening. This suggests to me that police were seemingly called out under false pretenses, because the management of Swiftpak were unhappy with independent scrutiny of their business practices.
Thinking about this video made me feel less disappointed that my attempted purchase of a packet of FFP2 respirators was scuppered. If you are looking to buy FFP2 respirators in bulk, I would suggest looking elsewhere.
