A good traditional butcher (better quality, choice and value than supermarkets) but I write about their deli counter. The deli counter is great, in particular are their in house made scotch eggs, they are just fantastic. I have watched them being made. It is the crispy breadcrumbs that does it. Definitely go there for your beach picnic. If you have not tried a butchers made sausage for a while, I would suggest you try theirs. They are so much better than supermarket ones, less fat more flavour.

The owner is still not taking card transactions for less than £5. I walked in to see if this had changed and they would take card, but alas had not so in view of the staff walked out proclaiming that I'm not buying from here again, even if I was desperate until the owner takes card transactions again.
This is the only business I know that is doing this so clearly business model is wrong!!

I’ve been using Surmans for years as I’ve always loved their quality of meat and service. Went in today just as they were clearing up and ordered four ribeye steaks as a special treat. They usually show them to you before bagging them up, but this time the guy just put them in the bag, weighed them and told me the price. I didn’t think much of it until I got them home. The edges were totally dried out and when I cooked them they were so tough to eat, and no, I didn’t overcook them. I’m so disappointed and also a bit cross. Hence the reason for the post. Sort yourselves out Surmans. 😔

Avoid at all costs, the Man that served me today came behind the counter with a gloveless handful of raw sausage meat, dumped it into the tray, then asked me what i would like without even wiping his hands he got me the chicken thighs i asked for dripping all the raw chicken juice over the other meats on the counter then when it was time to pay with the same infested hand took my debit card and touched it on the contactless reader, didnt even tell me the price first. i was so appalled by the hygiene standard i took my card back with a tissue so i didnt have to touch it. He was so offended he practically threw a plastic bag at me to put my chicken into. on the up side the Deli looked good but definatly wont be going back to try it

I have just visited this store, as got recommended by a regular customer ( my father - in - law ) I was rrally looking forward to having a browse in here but when we went in, the man behind the cooked food counter, was quite abrupt and arrogant, this is after we told him we got recommended. Very disappointed in the customer service we recieved on our visit.
