Sunshine Children's Centre, Soft Play - Herne Bay

Advertised as being closed on a Wednesday but open the other 6 days of the week, I turn up on a Thursday and closed.
We went there on Saturday morning and the first thing you notice is the strong smell of damp and mould. The play area is freezing cold, toilets dirty, slug trails on the floor. It could do with a good clean and the black mould on the ceiling needs sorting! How is this place not condemned ?

Paid £6 each for 2 children one who is under one in a buggy who didn’t even leave the buggy as soon as we walked in the place stank of damp musty smell. It was absolutely freezing in there and there was slug/ snail lines all over the floor. Whilst sat at a table with my child sleeping in the buggy I over hear someone only being charged £3 for a child much older then mine and walking i heard her say it was because they are only little and won’t play for long. I don’t think it’s fair to charge each people different prices considering my child didn’t play and I had to pay £6 for him to lay in his buggy absolute joke!!! Won’t return again.

Love taking my grandson here as he loves it. I like to get there early before it gets to busy with older kids. The staff are lovely and you can relax knowing they are safe. They also do a fantastic range of refreshments.

We held our little ones 6th birthday party here and fun was had by all. I popped in to book in person and Fiona talked me through all the options they could provide. Our party was downstairs in the main play area, on what turned out to be a rather busy Saturday, but the kids all had a great time and there's a separate party room where the children sat down to have their food. The staff on the day were great and were there when I needed them even though it was busy. Would definitely recommend this venue for a stress free party.

Don't be put off by the outside. Great little place. The play equipment is bigger than expected & good for smaller & bigger kids. The staff are really friendly. Good range of refreshments at reasonable prices & reasonable entrance fee too, with no charge for adults.
Quite an old building, so wear a jumper but actually a little gem of a place.

I’m hugely disappointed to be honest. I’ve visited the soft play with my daughter a couple times before and I should have known better than to return for a third time.

The soft play areas are extremely dirty, not even just a little bit from the day to day; it looks like weeks if not months of build up; mouldy food and black stuff comes off on your hands when using the equipment; toys covered in juice, and toys falling apart, for example, steering wheels coming off when using the cars, not the safest for kids to use is it? Strikes me, that daily inspections of toys and equipment clearly doesn’t happen, if at all. Nor does a general clean, let alone a deep clean.
I would normally factor in going for lunch somewhere else when I’ve been before; however I decided to order instead. I wish I didn’t. My daughter had a meal deal; nothing special, but for an extra £4, cream cheese sandwich (it only says cheese when booking it online, so I wasn’t expecting cream cheese), a choice of cake or biscuit, fruit or yoghurt and some crisps which came from an already opened packet, it wasn’t anything exciting, considering you’re not allowed to consume your own food. I ordered a bacon and Brie panini for myself. I honestly can’t describe the horrid smell coming from the panini, the bacon looked purple and didn’t smell to pleasant and the Brie, well, it smelt so strongly of chemicals I dared to eat anymore. I would be so shocked if this was in date or stored properly. Im completely aware of Brie naturally not smelling to pleasant but this was beyond normal. It was foul!
2 pint bottles of milks were sat on the side for over 30 mins before being put in the fridge once brought in by another staff member. A two second job.

The only reason I have given 1 stars is for the staff member who served me was very pleasant and handled customers well, but with a lot of standing around a bit more efficiency wouldn’t hurt.

Unless something changed I doubt I would come back again but I currently wouldn’t be eating there again!

Damp, dirty, mouldy, smelly, dangerous. This building needs to be fixed and refurbed immediately or condemned.

Lovely place. Our little one loved it and we spent all afternoon here. The staff are lovely and the snacks and drinks are very reasonably priced. Will be going again very soon. Very lucky to have it right on our doorstep.
