Had some Youngs Scampi from Tesco and they tasted OK but it was not till I peeled off the breadcrumbs that I saw the fish inside which didn't look like any Scampi I had ever seen before, it put me right off my tea, see photo.

Just had the 'Mariners Pie' and I have to say it's the best ready meal for oven or microwave I have ever had! I am 36 and have a lot of rubbish and tasteless ones in my time so as a result haven't bought any microwaveable ones for a few years. I did mine in the oven exactly as directed as my preferred cooking method and did baked beans to go with it in the Microwave, delicious! Normally part of this kind of food wouldn't re-heat very well like the mash but no problem here, it was like the picture. I am basically shocked I enjoyed it and so much so I had to immediately write out my first google review!

I have the misfortune to open a pack of 6 breaded cod fishcakes. They were horrendous, they were over-cooked well before the 16 minutes. They were hard, nothing inside worth eating and I really found it difficult to swallow any part of them, all 6 went in the bin. If this is the best that you can do I would stop manufacturing them. I will go back to ASDA's own make 100 times better than these.

I bought 2 Youngs extra large cod fillets at Tesco, never again. 32 minutes at 200c in our fan oven. They came out soggy and limp, not a sign of Youngs unique crisp, bubbly batter, just a mess. Sorry Youngs, but they were awful, cannot recommend.

Bought a Youngs fish pie and an admirals pie (for convenience as we get half an hour for lunch) the fish pie was quite nice and the admirals pie (with butter sauce topped with mash and cheddar cheese) was very tasty. They were cheap (from Farmfoods) so wasn't expecting much, but i was surprised. The only downside was the 2cm bone i found in a mouthful, i took photos but as they have put on the outer package that ir may contain the odd bone, i couldnt really complain. I'll still buy it again but just be careful.

Youngs Ltd, their fish wets the appetite. It always conforms to the highest standards that it states on its packaging. Follow the easy to prepare instructions... whilst enjoying your meal, for a brief moment consider the men whose lives are put at risk each day to provide you with this delicacy,( just so they can earn a living). Not so easy come easy go is it? Savour the flavour every time you eat your preferred Youngs fish meal, I could never be so blasé as to eat my sea food without thinking of the perilous journey made for our appetites. Hmmm, fish is considered brain food, I for one will stay Youngs forever!

Gastro Fish Pie.

Overpriced and under delivered. The picture and the contents are vastly.. VASTLY different. The black plastic container was a quarter filled; and that was mainly potato. Shameful representation of a brand that promised a lot more than the local COOP own brand. The fish content was limited to small pieces of tasteless white fish. No meaty fish element just and pulp of matter. I was expecting more with the 'Gastro' name as it implied a lot better however the COOP own budget brand at least has a prawn or two in it; and a lower price. The white sauce was chemical and thin. There was no green accompaniment, like Parsley or Dill, in the sauce. A very unimaginative dish that was so basic and economic it really demands the attention of governing authorities for its promise and advertising. Not a poor meal.. a revolting meal. Overpriced, over promised and dishonestly advertised. Shameful example of the North of England and its food industry. If only there was a no star option
