As a narrowboat passing through shrewley tunnel we were looking for a local shop so googled and found the village store , I was chuckling about some of the negative reviews for the place , so off to investigate we went The negative reviews are unfounded and not our experience, a nicer person I have yet to find , very helpful and cheerful great range and reasonable prices amazing selection in the deli.

Reasonable stock and prices, for s village store. Only a part time Post Office! Proprietor wouldn't win any prizes from charm school. There are better, viable alternatives within easy reach (by car).
Although now moved away I actually grew up in this village and remember when it was a proper village shop. Definitely room for improvement.
Update - visited once again and proprietor seems more morose than ever. It was, as ever, a supreme effort for him to serve anybody and I have yet to see any evidence of pleasure (a friendly smile would be nice!). Think this is the last time I will be calling here. Shame.

The shop has a fantastic range for a village store and the curries are wonderful. However I go out of my way to visit the Woodloes if I need to send a parcel as the man behind the Post Office counter is so grumpy and miserable that I hate having to ask him anything.

£5 minimum contactless payment?!?. In covid times that’s almost unheard of. A business that can’t move with the times won’t survive.
