Sheepdrove Organic Farm - Hungerford

We chose Sheepdrove for our wedding reception venue in November 2023.

We love the green, eco ethos of Sheepdrove. The venue is also absolutely stunning, both inside and out - lots of natural light and wooden features. We found that we didn’t need to spend a lot on flowers or decoration, as the venue was spectacular enough as it was.

We particularly loved that we had the whole place to ourselves for the weekend, so we weren’t rushing to get set up/packed away. There are lots of different spaces that people can gather in - this worked especially well for us as we had lots of children at our wedding, so they had plenty of space to safely explore and play together.

The Oak Room is especially beautiful, and made a great venue for our ceilidh.

A big thanks to Allison, Amy and everyone at Sheepdrove for helping to make our day so memorable.

Lambourn is a charming village in the Berkshire Downs, today famous for its association with horse racing . Sheepdrove is a nearby experiment in organic farming by former publishers Peter and Juliet Kindersley. Both Lambourn and Sheepdrove derive their names from the days when the main cities of England were Winchester, London and Norwich, their wealthy merchants benefitting from woollen exports to the skilled weavers of Flanders. The fact that today, sheep drove’s 2,000 acres of grass rich downland are not able to support profitable livestock farming, is doubtless a testament to something, but not I think to the much abused excuse of ‘progress’. Apart from its role as a case study for the budding organic farming and re-wilding community, Sheepdrove’s magnificently redeveloped farm buildings have been re-equipped as a fine conference and hospitality centre, a go-to venue for sustainably minded businesses and entrepreneurs to laude their commercial success, while also sadly bearing testament to the difficulties which farmers of today face in making an environmentally friendly living from their land. A green burial site for Thomas Hardy fans and historical fiction writers creates another suitably nostalgic (and hopefully profitable!) link to the past.

I attended a wedding here a few weeks ago.
The apartment is lovely & clean and had around 9 rooms I think. No enough seating for that many people but it was fine. The kitchen was more than enough for a couple of days but not really many places to actually store any food you buy. No complimentary shampoo, soap etc.
The venue it’s self is really nice, and the wedding was in the field which was lovely. The few interactions I had with the team they seemed really nice. I would recommend.

My daughter and new son in law were married at Sheepdrove at the weekend and WOW what an amazing place! It was the perfect setting for a wedding, with its beautiful Oak Room, lovely central entrance and gorgeous light and airy room ideal for the wedding breakfast. The subtle, but perfect, decorative touches added to the atmosphere of the setting and everything has been constructed and run with a conscious ethical and ecological approach.
Alison and her team paid impeccable attention to detail and whilst being there for anything we needed, were not overbearing and allowed us to set up the wedding as we had planned.
So many of the guests commented on the beautiful setting and it's surroundings and we cannot wait to get the photos back to remember the amazing day we had.

We used Sheepdrove Organic Farm recently for a work event. The venue is simply stunning, it felt light and airy with high ceilings and a beautiful outside space which seemed to go on forever. Allison helped me organise the perfect day recommending caterers who could help with our bbq and drinks, to ensuring the grass was cut for our game of rounders. Cannot recommended this venue enough.

This is an amazing place outstandingly beautiful with the ecological centre hidden away you wouldn't even know it was there

Always allow yourself an extra 10 minutes to what the sat nav says as the actual centre is a good drive from the entrance of sheepdrove

I've always found the staff to be more than helpful

I would even write the toilets as five star due to the graffiti which is probably the wrong word all over the walls absolutely brilliant
