We have a thriving 40 tree orchard, planted 2020 after a Covid distanced visit from John H to advise us about our situation ( west coast, top of a hill)
Plants arrived promptly and were planted in the teeth of storm Dennis as that was when we had manpower!
Despite that they survived, and we had just a few carefully selected fruit last year from some of the trees. This year the apples are laden. So just waiting for June drop to thin them out a bit, before I go in and thin manually…
Plums are a bit less successful, but when they’re in blossom we always seem to be in the teeth of a strong wind, so not many insects, but guessing the microclimate will improve as the trees to the west thicken up..,
Can’t fault the advice or service. Thoroughly recommend Scottish Heritage Fruit trees.

It's late Saturday night. One of my brother's has asked me to buy a tree of remembrance for my niece. I look online for something notable, that has some thought and heritage behind it, something worthy of her memory. I get a reply by Sunday morning. I call, thinking I will leave a message to get back to me, when John answers. We spend an hour discussing the terrain it is going to the climate, we look on Google Earth, we discuss the fact that more than one remembrance tree may give us more possibility of success. John realises that the neighbour's also buy from him. We have two perfect heritage apple trees, which we now KNOW will grow in the Hebrides. John contacts the neighbour's to ask if they will help deliver the trees to my grieving family to provide for the trees.

Anyone ever had that kind of service? Like, ever?

I know I haven't. I come from a family of gardeners, and we are impressed.

This company is immaculate. Trees are our heritage, help keep them alive. John will do everything he can to ensure that you know what you are doing and how to do it.

I bought an orchard pack of eight trees a few years ago , the advice from john on planting, watering and protection was invaluable and the trees are thriving and have produced some good apples . I placed my order in the autumn and the trees arrived during the winter planting window, which i understand is a very busy time for john and his team. Great value and service , will definately buy another orchard pack.

I had a great experience buying fruit trees, bushes and hedging from here. John has a wealth of knowledge and it really shows that he wants to be able to provide the right plant for the right place.
We are just about to harvest our first crop of fruit and couldn't thank John enough!

Recently looking for a Golden Wedding Anniversary gift for the couple who - literally - has everything. Bought a pair of trees that their grandchildren will be able to harvest the fruit from and the family was delighted. This is my 2nd time buying from SHFT and once again it was simple and efficient and John was incredibly helpful. The company offers, along with a huge range of fantastic trees, all of the accessories and advice you could possibly need to choose, plant and grow your own fruit.

Our trees have established well and in their second year produced many fruit. This year's crop looks even more generous! It is reassuring to know we can refer to John for advice, the only downside is that fruit trees are addictive, you think you have no room for more but somehow find a space!

Bought 20+ fruit trees + stakes & mulch mats in late 2021 to plant a small orchard. Absolutely delighted with our purchase, and trees are looking strong & healthy (with exception of a couple that deer 🦌 munched before we upgraded protection 🙄) Highly recommend John, who offers exceptionally helpful advice

It’s early days for me but John was very helpful with his advice on what to grow on my highland plot. The trees arrived in good time and good condition and have made a promising start. Keep up the good work please!
