Excellent nursery, on a lovely site (once you find it), with a great selection of perennials. Particularly good for those of us gardening in shaded spaces, as it has a dedicated area for plants for shade. On the pricier side, but understandably so as the plants are well-established (most of what I bought was in 2 litre pots). And it seems to be run by some lovely people, too! I definitely intend to return very soon.

I’ve always liked this nursery. Good quality plants, and some quite unusual. Their trees are not stringy and elongated but have nice thick trunks. They are very helpful and the prices are reasonable. Plenty of space to browse. I recommend Rumsey’s wholeheartedly.

Delightful, quaint garden nurseries - well stocked and one of the best competively priced places to pick up plants, herbs and flowers in the area (way better than another rather over-priced Nursery/Garden Centre nearby). Friendly and helpful staff. One of those little hidden gems that probably only local people to the area are particularly aware of. Recommend a visit.

Understanding it is the middle of winter, when planning your own garden you do sometimes wish to browse garden centres to view what is in season or not. New to gardening, and looking for dormant pond plants myself, the assistant could not have been more unwelcoming, scoffing at me as she explained they were out of season. This was after she stopped me at the entrance almost insinuating I was lost.

There was one other customer who arrived shortly after and possibly with the same treatment we both left at the same time having spent less than 5 minutes inside and purchasing nothing. I didn’t want to spend any money with them for such a service.

Least to say I ordered four pond plants online when I got home from a recommended RHS supplier Puddle Plants, which arrived within the week in excellent condition and they are safely tucked away in my own pond ready for spring. Rumsey garden centre is lacking in customer service. Such a shame.

This was a very frustrating visit for us as we had travelled all the way from Somerset only to be told that we weren't allowed to explore the nursery. So why have we given 5 stars, the plants in the one greenhouse we were allowed into were of exceptional quality and very reasonably priced.
The nursery person was very polite and apologetic about not letting us explore but the wind was at storm force with horizontal rain lashing down. We will return in the spring on a calmer day.

A different, better kind of garden centre. A bit harder to find but well worth the effort. Plants look great, grown on site and laid out with a focus on display rather than sales. Friendly and helpful staff. Much more of a garden than a plant factory....and they had the exact plant we'd found hard to find. Much more than just herbs.

Excellent garden centre with extremely knowledgeable and friendly staff. Abundant selection of plants, shrubs, trees etc. Never overrun with members of the public and has a great "old world" feel about it.

Derek and Margaret are a lovely couple, still loads of plants for sale and grown by a proper nursery and not a garden centre. Well worth the visit.
