Ruby & White has always stood out as a top-quality butcher in the area. The meat is consistently excellent, and you really can’t fault the range or provenance of their products. We’ve been loyal customers for years and have always appreciated the quality and care that went into both the products and the service.

However, in recent visits, we’ve noticed a disappointing shift in the customer experience—particularly with some of the newer staff members. The friendly, knowledgeable atmosphere we used to enjoy has been replaced, at times, with service that feels dismissive, unhelpful, and frankly quite rude.

On our last visit, we went in to ask for livers and kidneys for our dogs. When I asked if they had any in stock or in the back, the staff member appeared visibly surprised by the request, almost as though it was an inconvenience. Through the glass doors, I could clearly see him walk to the fridge, take out his mobile phone, and then return—without checking—telling me there were none available. Not only was this unprofessional, but it was also unhygienic, especially for a food handling environment.

It’s genuinely disheartening to see this level of indifference from staff at a place we’ve trusted and supported for so long. At the prices Ruby & White charges—which are justified by their quality—excellent customer service should come as standard. If an employee is unhappy working there, it really does reflect in the customer’s experience, and that needs to be addressed.

We still value Ruby & White as a local business and hope this feedback helps restore the high standard of service that made it such a pleasure to shop there in the first place.

We purchased a rolled sirloin joint for New Years Eve, and it was simply divine. Tender, moist, soft and delicious. And we cooked it just as the butcher suggested, without the need to seal it before the oven. Worked like a dream at 180. No waste either. We will be back again without question. Thankyou.

The person closest to the door often cuts a little meat and throws it under the table when cutting it for me. What he cuts is not bad meat, so the weight I often get is not enough for what I pay. I have no idea what he does.

Headed here has had amazing burgers in summer, Ordered 2 cheese burgers from grill outside, I think the lady cooking needs hygiene and cooking training, putting Raw meat on grill with hands then touching bread, lettuce etc with same hands, once wrapped up, we walked back to car, and burgers whilst crispy on outside were raw on inside, raw meat, dripping red, not even medium, as uncooked through away. Very disappointing

Exceptional Service & Quality.
I was recreating some recipes from my Mum's recipe book and I needed a whole deboned chicken. Not only did Ruby and White supply a beautiful chicken, they did the deboning for me, and gave me advice on the bed way in which to tie and prepare the chicken for roasting. It was delicious. I'll be coming back for the more obscure meats in the recipe book very soon.

The BBQ out front (I think open till 3pm) is to die for, steak sandwich was the best I ever had. The gent out front was lovely and left nothing to be desired when it comes to customer service. Popped my head in and will be back for some Christmas beef for SURE. GOOD food
