I’m so pleased I signed up for a veg box. We enjoy seeing what’s in it week by week, and it feels good to eat according to the seasons. There’s so many positives: we get freshly picked vegetables that are locally grown, so there’s low food miles, and it’s great knowing that because we buy the produce we’re helping all the wildlife that lives on the organic farm. All the veg is good quality and the apples in autumn are excellent too. Highly recommend.

Great fresh veggies, and Sarah and Martin are always so pleasant and easy to deal with. We first signed up years ago when we lived in Whitstable. Then we moved out of area, and my first act on our return was to sign up for a box again. Glad I did! The website works well and it's easy to add extras and to manage pauses when we're away and don't need our box. Would definitely recommend.

When we set up Vegbox back in 2012, Ripple Farm was the first producer we reached out to.

Back in 2012, we had been given Martin MacKays mobile number (the farmer. We rang him up in early summer and Martin answered the phone.

“Errrr, we’re thinking of setting up a veg box scheme in North London. Do you think you could deliver to us?”

He pondered this and then answered in his slow and thoughtful Irish accent: “Yes, I think we probably could. September would be a good time to start.”

Our core team at the time went to visit them. He and his wife Sarah met us at home and made us a lovely meal. It was such a lovely, encouraging start.

Its been just as dreamy every since then.

One lovely thing about Ripple Farm is their commitment to the people they work with. Unusually for a British farm, they have managed to employ a local workforce.

How? They work with local colleges to offer practical farming apprentices, they pay decent wages, and they are generally lovely.

On top of that, Martin is super knowledgeable and always working towards ways of increasing the sustainability of the farm and of the broader network of box schemes that he is linked into.
