We were successful in a sealed bid process for a plot of building land. After doing initial plans with an architect, and engaging a solicitor we were gazumped by someone a few weeks later offering a higher price. We weren't even given the chance to review our offer.

We were supposed to be on their mailing list for other building plots, and I even sent reminder emails every couple of months stating we were still actively looking and had cash. We never got any replies to emails. Since found out they had listed and sold a nice plot we would have gone after, had we known about it.

Very unprofessional outfit, with poor standards, and dreadful communication.
