Point House Farm - Chester

We recently stayed at the lodge, it ticked the boxes for us.  However, when we pulled up right outside we noticed the outbuilding. Which has tools, blocks of wood with nails sticking up.  Which for us was a big safety concern.  We obtained the keys from the lock box and let ourselves in.

Once inside I went to put my son's juice on the coffee table, there were marks and what looked like white dog hairs.  So, we cleaned the coffee table.  As we brought our belongings in and started to settle in.  We noticed more, dust was heavy, in most areas, as in weeks old.  Cob webs again, old covered in dust.  Dried in marks on the sofa, smudge marks over switches.

Oil splatter over the hob and all along the side of the hob.  Cutlery, cups and plates not clean. If we had time we would have left and gone elsewhere.   So,  we decided to stick with it.

Evening time, we went to shower our son, we then spotted a huge blood stain downside the sink.  We were disgusted, pulled our son out the shower and closed that room off.

Around 8 in the morning, we called and emailed the renter of the lodge.  He said they have a cleaning team that do spot checks and doesn't have a clue how blood would be there. He said he would send his cleaning team.  I asked when, however he didn't know when.  I explained I'm immune compromised and blood was quite worrying.

So we went off to the zoo and came back around 2:30/3.  Nothing had been cleaned.  So, I message to say nothing had been cleaned.  However, no reply, then around 4 o' clock Rachel one of the renters came to clean the blood.   I said I was disappointed with the lack of cleaning to which the reply was "we're only human" she was pleasant and said I would be refunded the cleaning fee (yet to receive).

It states recently refurbished, however items where dated and several blinds were broken.  The fireplace had ring marks all over it. The carpets were stained, the windows had marks inside and out.

The beds were made up nicely but had a musty smell, so we slept on top with our own blankets.

I also messaged about the shower, it would randomly make very loud noises, I filmed this and sent to the renter.  (No reply)  we had very poor night's sleep.  Personally for us, we wouldn't recommend this lodge or stay again.

Which is a shame, as the owners of the farm itself where lovely, our son played ball with their dog where made his evening and was asking to play with the dog again.

Just had a lovely 5 days with my family and our dogs staying at pointhouse, the caravan was clean and comfortable and the surroundings beautiful! Hughe Pip made us all feel so welcome. Will definitely make use of this hidden little treasure again!
