We visited this place for the first time, and after expecting a lot from it, we were quite disappointed after we tried their famous pasty. Everything inside was very commercial, as were the pasties. The taste was very bland, and there wasn't much meat inside either. We also tried the cake, which was elephant's foot, very bland and dry. We will not be returning for sure unfortunately.

We passed by here before heading back to London. Staff were helpful, and prices were reasonable. We bought a lot to share with family and friends. We had some during our service break with a nice coffee, and it was enjoyable. Authentic cornish pasties. Worth the detour.

What a place to go to a Cornish pasty shop with parking. This place is an amazing shop offering wonderfull baked goods. I got the traditional Cornish pasty that was huge and baked to perfection, and upon opening it, I found it was bursting with filling absolutely gorgeous and wonderfully cooked. I also got a steak and cheese pasty with lovely, large cooked steak filling. As a chap from London, I have got used to what we call a pasty, so if you are ever in this neck of the woods, bag yourself one of these. The shop is very popular and very busy. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Warning cake alert: You could go made with the huge selection of unbelievable sweet treats on offer. The place is so popular it even sells merchandise.

Best pasties in the world. What a place! My family have been coming to Philps for as long as I can remember. Holidays to Hayle and St Ives always involved a daily trip for a proper Cornish pastie.

You have to visit here and drop in for a cornish pasty, absolutely delicious!

On holiday here and this place is always busy, had to drop in. I'm so glad we did as these pastries are out of this world!

We went for an original traditional pasty, and it was phenomenal, honestly, the weight of it! Absolutely loaded with filling and flavour!

Next up went for an Elephants foot, and literally it was! This thing was huge!

Taste wise loaded with cream, caramel topped, and basically a giant éclair, but with a twist!

Go in and get yourself a pastry. If there's room, get a foot ?.

Food is always top quality, never had a bad pasty from Philps. The 'traditional steak' (Cornish pasty) is the most popular and there's usually a queue out the door around lunch time for these. They're definitely worth the wait. If you aren't a fan of pastry then I wouldn't recommend this place for you as the layer of pastry is very thick which can make it feel quite dry to eat, but the filling is extremely tasty.
Sweet treats are also available, great saffron cake and scones available- great cream tea packets with all the ingredients in. Lots of cakes and cream cakes in the display.

First trip to Hayle yesterday and after a brilliant day out at the Parrot sanctuary just around the corner I had to come and try Philps for the first time after seeing so many reviews on social media!

Came in the shop fairly late maybe 4.30pm-ish and there were limited pasties available. Managed to get a Med traditional cornish for the other half and a Med steak and cheese for myself.

First of all I was astounded by the sheer size and weight of my medium pasty it was bigger than the future of Kier Starmer.

The pastry was absolutely delicious! Huge chunks of meat. Juicy. Succulent. Saucy. Cheesey. Just a flavourgasm in the mouth. Unbelievable Jeff. Delightful.

The missus really enjoyed her traditional pasty as well she said it was the best pasty she's had to date although her pasty experiences are fairly limited compared to mine as she's only visited Cornwall 3 times where as I've been holidaying here for 30 years and tried quite literally hundreds of pasties. I did have a bite of her traditional and I have to agree it was the best I've sampled although I usually keep away from traditional I'm not crazy for parsnip and swede.

All in all they were honestly 2 incredible pasties. I want to say 2 of the best I've ever had. Absolutely unbelievable value for money. Are they the best pasties in Cornwall? I'm really not sure... they're right up there! Before trying Philps my favourite hands down was Sarah's in Looe. Is Philps better than Sarah's? It's hard to say without a direct comparison of 2 pasties of the same flavour. Was my Philps pasty better than my favourite Sarah's pasty? I don't think it was better. But I do think it was equally as good. I think they are hands down the 2 best shops and I think they are miles apart from any others. I think Sarah's is the best on the East Coast of Cornwall and I think Philps is the best on the West Coast of Cornwall and I think that's an honest review and a very fair comparison.

10/10 perfect pasties for Philps!
