Second breakfast in here and the latest was every bit as good as the first. Came highly recommended and didn’t disappoint. Full English again, quality food and perfectly poached eggs. Not a trace of grease anywhere. Lovely thick proper toast and butter pats supplied. Tasty coffee and nice friendly staff. I have seriously tried every establishment in Chester that sell full English and this is the best imo. Will certainly try the rest of the home made food menu.

# update. So I went in for my breakfast , and ordered the poached eggs with bacon on toast. My eggs came out hard and when I told the assistant I got " well you should have said sooner" well sorry but you were too busy out the back laughing and giggling with your colleagues so I couldn't tell you. I left with no food after taking medication that requires me to eat. Shame on you, My how service has changed. Served cold coffee 25 minutes before our food was brought out. The food was still fantastic but the place was so noisy I could barely hear myself think.had to leave asap as was just too much for me . Yhis place used to be Chester-le-Streets best kept secret but now im afraid its not

We often go to Chester-le-Street from North Shields just to dine at the Cafe as Allison, Paul, Neil and staff are so friendly and welcoming. The menu, which we have sampled quite a few variations of are excellent. The scones are so gorgeous we always bring some home with us.
It is a fantastic experience.

Avoid at all cost £3,80 for a bacon nd egg butty, what I wouldn't feed to a dog, full of grease, then your told u can't stand in the cafe while your waiting for take out, you have to go round the back, unreal they still have a business very disappointing

Great home made food, all freshly made. The portions are really generous. A great selection of cakes and scones. Service is excellent, everyone is friendly and helpful. If it's just a cuppa and a piece of cake, or a full english breakfast you want, this is the place to come. Always busy, so be prepared to wait for a table, but it's worth it.

Visited this cafe today for afternoon tea. We were delighted with the friendly service. Warm and welcoming staff. Unlimited refills on our drinks. Great value for money. Everything was freshly made and tasted delicious. We were given boxes to carry the two cakes we didn’t mange to eat home with us. You must book in advance for afternoon tea and it’s served from 2.30pm. Highly recommended.

I usually have an enjoyable experience at this cafe and have visited many times in the past, however on a recent visit we received cold and unwelcoming service. We walked in with a sign blocking the door, the staff moved it out the way and didn't even say hello. We then waited 15 minutes to be served and ended up having to ask at the counter for a menu. Because this was annoying we discussed amongst ourselves about the poor service. The waitress then complained to other customers at the table behind us calling us rude. We decided to leave at this point and another waitress came up and aggressively asked us if we were leaving. As we walked out the door the customers who the waitress complained about us to gave us a sarcastic wave. Overall experience made us feel like intruders. For staff to complain about customers to their own customers is highly unprofessional and caused further issues. Food good, service terrible.
