My whole family is from around this part of The North. I’ve spent plenty of my life in the passenger seat of a long car journey with my mum to and from various family gatherings. Part motorway, part winding back roads of the countryside. One journey home, I think after my great auntie Joan’s funeral, we kept pointing out all the signs for various eggs for sale. None of them grabbed us enough to actually stop and buy some eggs though. That was until we saw it, the sign for an egg vending machine. I’m a whole adult, I have an office job, I pay council tax, but this experience reduced me to an excitable (egg-citable?) kid. It was such a thrill just to purchase a few eggs.

If memory serves me correctly, it was wheelchair accessible in that you could get from your car to the vending machine without any steps, but you would need to stand up to reach the payment and retrieve your eggs. It’s also size inclusive on account of there being plenty of space to move around.

My mum sometimes jokes that her biggest regret is bringing me up southern. I say ‘bath’ and ‘grass’ wrong. I try to make her proud by watching Emmerdale and wearing flat caps, but it turns out the best way to make her proud was to make her a delicious quiche with these eggs.

LOVE THIS. Eggs are cheaper than at the supermarket and much better quality too. This is a brilliant way to support local farmers, whilst still coming away with a great, good value product.

When we went, it was £1.50 for a box of 6 large free range eggs. They are RSPCA assured as well.

Have fried & poached these eggs so far, and they have been delicious. Why buy your eggs from the supermarket when you can buy them here? You get better value, both ethically & financially.
