Fantastic lodge in a beautiful location; it was perfect for our trip to Devon. The lodge was a great size, comfy, clean and fully equipped for a self service stay. Our lodge was dog friendly so were able to bring our little dog along for the adventures.

If you like your tapas this is the place to head for, as I had never eaten tapas before I thought that £7-£8 per plate was a trifle expensive when totalled up ( cost £180.00 for four inc wine).

Stunning view from the terrace. Food excellent the only thing that let it down was 35 mins from order to table for breakfast.

We went for the tour and tasting and really enjoyed it. Our guide, Ken, originally set up the vineyard and so was able to give us a really interesting insight into how he set it up and then through every step of the process. It was then followed by tasting of the still wines which for English wines, were very drinkable, though of course not up to the standard of more mainstream wine-producing countries, but that is to be expected with the more challenging weather in the UK. In particular, the red reserve was the best of the limited English reds I have tasted. Lunch afterwards was also very nice. But main thanks go to Ken for a great tour and tasting. It would have been nice to have been able taste the sparkling wines as well.

Ok, so I am not normally one for leaving reviews, in fact this is my first one ever on google, and it’s a shame it’s a bad one, but our experience was so poor. Even more so because I emailed them straight away with our complaint and have waited nearly a month and they have not even had the decency to respond, I feel this review is warranted and fair. We came to the Vineyard on Saturday 9th March, with our mum, for an early mother’s day treat, we had booked an ultimate high tea, because we had had it before back in June last year and it was fabulous. When we came in June, per 2 people we had loads of sandwiches, full sizes slices of cakes, lashings of clotted cream and jam, there was loads, hence whey we booked to bring our mum this time! However this time was the opposite, it was very disappointing, to point I couldn’t believe what I was looking at, there was half the amount for the same price, the cakes were cut in to such small bits they had fallen to pieces, you could clearly see that 1 slice of each type of cake has been cut into tiny bits, 1 egg custard tart cut in to 4 (so half a tart each) 3 out of 4 of the scones were hard (like they had been microwaved for too long) and 2 tiny pots of jam between 4 scones, half a pot between 2 halves of a scone, not even any Victoria sponge on an afternoon tea? I am not one to complain, and didn’t want to spoil the day at the time in front of mum by complaining, but since we left it had been playing on my mind that much I felt I needed to contact them about it, I have not been able to stop thinking I can’t believe that we had paid £56.00 for that, I could understand it perhaps if it was more a of ‘budget’ high tea, but at £28.00 PER PERSON, I have to say I feel totally robbed, and cannot express how disappointed we were. £28.00 per person was completely justified for what we had in June, but this time round was a joke to be honest. There must have been half of the amount fo food for the same money, 1 egg custard tart cut in to 4 between 2 people, are you for real? I went back through my pictures, and still happen to have some from our visit in June, i have added photos for comparison in the photos section (wouldnt allow me to add them to this review) from June and then on mothers day, I am sure from these you can see why we are so shocked and disappointment at the difference.

We have just been to Old Walls Vineyard for Sunday lunch.
Everyone enjoyed their meals.
I had the vegan gluten free nut roast which was one of the best ones I've had for a long time. The red cabbage was really good.
The staff are lovely, always smiling and happy to help.

If you want the nut roast to be gluten free you need to put that on your booking. This is what they had asked me to do.

Well worth going there.
