This establishment has what appears to be a good range of gas cylinders, fruit, veg, garden ornaments, garden buildings, coal and other bagged produce.

Over the years I had attempted to be a customer a fair few times, but found their relatively small selection of fruit and veg had usually gone past its best. I decided to give them a try more recently, with an attempt on a weekday to purchase a few bags of coal resulting in me kicking myself for not checking in advance that they would be open.

Returning a couple of days later, I was kicking myself again after reading a hand-written sign. Whilst I would be surprised to be able to pay in Bitcoin, I did expect that in 2025 there would be the opportunity to use debit or credit cards for transactions that could have amounted to several £20 notes’ worth of value, notwithstanding £20 notes not going as far as they used to. Alas, I had neglected to bring sufficient folding money. Similarly I had forgotten to rummage around in the attic before leaving for a cheque book (they accept cheques). I am sure I have one of these somewhere, stored along with some vinyl LPs, some half penny pieces and newspapers I am saving to show my grandchildren what the old days used to be like. I am now kicking myself yet more, as this nik-nak collecting could be entirely unnecessary if (somehow) this farm shop is still in business in future years: I can just send the grandkids to buy some fruit and coal.

For a genuine throw-back, “buy local from a farm shop” experience, go for it! Just check the opening times on this thing they call “the tinternet” and take a stop at the supermarket over the road to use their cash machine.

Often use this farm shop. The staff are lovely, always polite and friendly. They stock some lovely garden ornaments as well as plenty of fresh vegatables, sacks of potatoes, coal, logs as well as fresh eggs. Nothing is too much trouble and they will help carry heavy things to your car. Adventures in Wood are also here. They make amazing sheds and summer houses in Wood. Well worth a visit and a browse.

Very helpful and always friendly welcoming staff. Always a pleasure to shop there.
Be mindful though as some able-bodied customers park their cars right smack bang outside the door. Because the poor souls can’t carry a small bag of carrots or even a bag of apples more than 10 feet without the need for medical respiration. Well, that’s what I assume the reason is, but I may be wrong. Have a great day people….
