Bought a sheep last auction, they said it was a ewe but it is actually a whether. When I called, the woman answering the phone said they don't guarantee the sex of any animal and basically said to pound sand. Why say a gender when they enter the ring then? I certainly wouldn't have shelled out that much money for a whether. Save your time and money and go somewhere else.

A very un professional so called “place of business” they need to hire grown adults who know what they are doing instead of inexperienced teenagers. The girl working in the auction house has no business being there she spent half the time texting on her phone and answering phone calls. Very unprofessional! Doesn’t know how to handle animals grabs them by the throat/legs and drags them out the door. Takes the prod whips them in the face just a sad thing to see! Some of the animals that come through are in poor shape look sickly a shame that people treat their animals in this manner. I’d be cautious to buy from this place with the possibility of a hurt animal by the time it’s all said and done.

For the past year I have attended numerous auctions held at this place. I have taken the time throughout week days to walk around and observe the stockyard & it's staff at random. I've seen them treat customers with fairness, kindness & respect and that definitely stood out to me. I've witnessed the employees/staff & their handling of not only cattle but goats & hogs as well. In every single observation I've had (and continue to have) at this place the livestock was treated very well.. even when the staff was unaware they were being observed. It was obvious to me that they are experienced with handling livestock properly & that's comforting to know. I am pleased with my experience and I would recommend this place.

The staff was very nice. I took 17 head of goats in to sell. This morning one of my mamas had a set of twin boys. So, I carried them in. Put tags in all of them. Sat for 2 1/2 hrs watching all the goats sell. Low & behold, my new babies did not go thru the sale. They matched 2 other babies with one of my mamas. So, I asked at the register. They said they couldn't match the numbers up, but I could watch the video. Why would I watch the video, I just sat for 2 1/2 hrs on every goat. My husband said to just settle and take the money. We got paid for 17 goats. But in my mind, my poor newborns went home with someone with their mama.

It's okay. Really dirty and packed but most of the animals at least appear healthy. Not a fan of how much fun one of the auctioneer assistants seemed to have just cattle prodding animals, regardless of their size or cooperation. Several times he shocked animals that were clearly doing what was desired of them at the time and he'd smirk to himself afterwards. :/

It seemed to me dishonest things go on here. I base this off of personal experience and observing over 2 years.
It appears "regulars" will have friends run up prices for them if a non major buyer is bidding on their cattle.
"Regulars" & large herd sellers get their livestock sold ahead of livestock dropped off befor theirs.
I have also noticed livestock being loaded about an hour befor the auction started (the man stated he had just bought them).
Market reports don't seem to match day of sale prices. When we inquired we were advised the auction was providing him with the prices for the report.
I have seen excessive used of force with the animals.

Dont take any crippled cows to the Ocala Stockyard. They will yell at you about it, and then scalp everything you sell that day.
