I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude for the wonderful experience I had at your fishery recently.

The new ownership is truly a breath of fresh air, and I cannot emphasize enough how welcoming and kind you all are. It was an absolute pleasure to meet such nice people who genuinely care about their guests. The fishing was fantastic, with an impressive catch of trout over 4 pounds, which made my day even more memorable.

Additionally, I must mention the delightful bacon sandwich that Holly prepared for me. It was, without a doubt, the best I have ever had! Your attention to detail and commitment to providing a great experience did not go unnoticed.

Thank you once again for your hospitality and for creating such a welcoming environment. I look forward to returning soon for more fantastic fishing and delicious food!

What a wonderful experience! I just had a lesson with Jim Wilson provided by the Moorhen team. Michelle and Jamie were extremely welcoming and I felt very much at home. (Bacon sandwich and tea was wonderful) Jim provided a great day of tuition which landed me two 3 lbs rainbow trout. (Which I have just eaten one of them) I had a great day. Ps thanks to Holly for the initial booking! Just brilliant 👍🏻

First time fishing here. A very warm welcome from the new owners. 3 good hard fighting fish caught.All over 3lb.
There's free Tea or Coffee plus a decent Bacon sandwich for a small price. Will be going back soon

I received a fly fishing introduction voucher to use at Moorhen Trout Fishery for my birthday. Although it took some time to get a slot (no lessons at weekends!) my day came and I received a warm welcome from everyone. John was my instructor and was very patient with me! He was very knowledgable and helped me with my casting and pointers for playing a trout which eventually worked very well with my 2 catches! Lesson was for 4 hours spread over lunch time but you can continue fishing until you have caught your 2 fish. Mine were a 3lb and 2.1lb which was fabulous. Definiatly recommend both John and Moorhen Trout Fisheery's

Im a regular here. This is a great fishery with amazing owners who are really helpful and friendly. We always get a really warm welcome and being able to get food is an added bonus. Always a great days fishing

Just had the best day at Moorhen Farm Trout Fishery .
Having had many trout days there with the previous owners I was obviously slightly apprehensive about the change of management but had NO NEED TO BE!!
It was better
Better organised
Excellent service
Certificates for prize winners
Attention to detail and customer service amazing
And for the first time !
Fish credits carried forward!!
Will no just definitely be back but hope I can afford TWO days of whole fishery per year

I need to add to this review now because even though I thought it was impossible!! Moorhen is simply getting better!!!!
I fished in my second competition there today and THOROUGHLY enjoyed it!
The team are so genuinely friendly, great banter , the other competitors are becoming known more to each other and add to the banter and friendly vibe! The prizes , food , fishing and customer care are great value and I urge anyone wanting a fun day fishing to get involved!
I saw a monster come out , almost a double figure and of course he won a nice tackle voucher 👍🏻
I’ve been fishing here since 1988 and seen it change hands many times but Moorhen now has an owner who cares for, understands and knows fly fishers.
If you’re new to the sport , been fishing a while or a seasoned angler , Moorhen has something to offer you !! Don’t hesitate, try it , you won’t be disappointed!

Ok, leaving a review on anything just isn’t something I do. Can’t really be bothered in all honesty. But I feel a tad differently about my time at Moorhen a week ago, It was fantastic. Whenever there’s a change of established owners pretty much anywhere, there’s always that slight nagging feeling that’s it’s all going to go a bit sideways and end up being totally toilet. It really wasn’t the case here. I was met with a sincere warm welcome, an offer of a tea/coffee to take the chill off what was a cold clear morning and a bit of well tempered advice of where the fish were holding. The grounds, as usual, are well kept, easily accessible for all ages and abilities and you’re able to fish directly in front of the car park. If you’d like to, of course. After a bit of fruitless faffing about, I managed to find where the fish were, what they were tempted by and was still playing my first, when behind me arrived Jaime and Michelle’s daughter (I’m so sorry I missed your name, you were brilliant) with bag in hand ready to take my catch away to the fridge. The service was quite unlike anywhere else I’ve fished.
It was quite busy by midday (about ten or so anglers) and there was a range of experience around the lake from absolute first day beginners, to pretty seasoned. It really does have something for everyone and doesn’t feel at all stuffy, fussy or elitist. I caught my 4 fish limit and had a wee stop off in the warm, well stocked (snacks, drinks, fishing equipment) cabin for a chat. So, cut to the chase, would I go back? Absolutely, and it will be soon. They’re nice people and I wish them all the best and continued success. If you’ve not been, genuinely, give it a go. Loved it.
