Attended a fundraising event for Makant Greyhound rescues this morning at Moseley Common and was asked to keep my lurcher away from the other dogs because she was barking. She was not being in any way aggressive and I had asked the owner of the other dog if it was ok to bring my dog to see hers and she had said it was fine. They were stood nose to nose, both wagging their tails when one of the organisers told me I needed to keep my dog separate when she had done absolutely nothing wrong. In view of this we left and all our dogs had a lovely run at buile hill park which is a true dog friendly place and we had a lovely lunch at the Woodside pub, another lovely local dog friendly venue. I will definitely not attend any future functions run by Makant and if you have a dog that has the audacity to want to bark I suggest you don’t either!

An amazing facility with a great staff and volunteers saving greyhounds.
All prospective adopters are vetted with a house visit to ensure the dogs welfare is the top priority and having adopted 2 greyhounds from Makants I can say that this process is straightforward.
The dedicated people behind the scenes (many volunteers) are quick to respond to messages, answer any questions, friendly and love the dogs remembering them at regular meet ups for social dog walks.
Would highly recommend if looking to rehome a hound even if you're not experienced with greyhounds as they run a meet and greet session so prospective adopters can get to see up close what amazing dogs they are.

Always love coming to see our friends at Makants. We started out volunteering to walk the dogs, and ended up with a greyhound of our own!

Siobhan and all the volunteers who run the rescue are lovely and have such a great community. They do their best for the dogs that come into their care, and it's so nice to see so many of them find their forever homes.

A small bonus is that they also sell farm produce and garden items, as well as having a shop with all sorts of dog accessories, treats and items.
