I have been here a few years ago and the experience and food was OK but I also went today and found my soup of the day tasted and smelled like body odour… I couldn’t finish it! The focaccia didn’t have much of a bread-like structure, it was slightly more on the side of a fluffy cake, although it was palatable unlike the soup. My family member enjoyed their burger, although it wasn’t anything to write home about. The setting is pretty standard, like a clear minimalist diner. I would trust their other products to be potentially trustworthy as the plates passing us did look good and it was packed out, as Loudons usually is

The smoked salmon options are great and really well balanced, coffee is great too. Sometimes brunch food can be bland but you can tell they’ve put thought and care in to the balance of flavours and curation of their dishes. Some of the best scones we’ve ever had - they’re huge!
I will say its a shame for their veggie or full breakfast you need to order £2.50 toast separately, should definitely be included you can buy a whole loaf of bread for that much lol

Breakfast was decent. We had an avocado Toast and salmon toast , pancakes, a full Scottish breakfast and some pastries. Everything was fine and tasty, but nothing that really stood out. A solid option if you’re nearby, but not necessarily a must-visit.

We had a lovely brunch on a Saturday morning here. Set just off the Royal Mile in an unprepossessing square the restaurant looks large and airy from the outside. Inside, the tables are spaced well apart and it's not too noisy as a result. We had the croque monsieur, mushroom toast and beetroot pancakes - all were absolutely delicious. Service was friendly and efficient too.

We ordered the full breakfast and wild mushroom toast. It was really good and enjoyed every bit of it. You might have to walk like 10 - 15 min from Edinburgh Castle and it’s worth it.

My croque monsieur french toast was delicious. Would love to it again.

The menu had a lot of fancy options so it would be good if there were a few more basic options.

It would be nice if it was possible to swap out toppings on the pancakes or french toast for other things as some people don’t like banana etc.

Really big restaurant with loads of tables. Was very busy so would recommend booking.

We had haggis benedict and salmon benedict and burger and coffee. Their method of making haggis and all the other foods brings up their best flavours while complimenting each other. I enjoyed it very much. Very close to where I stayed too.

Lovely breakfast at Loudons on Sibald Walk. We really enjoyed the savoury pea and chilli pancakes and the smoked salmon hollandaise. The coffee was also really nice.

Service was warm and friendly, and very attentive to our needs.

Atmosphere was pretty dead for such a big café; there were only 3 tables full, but it was a Tuesday morning.
