This place has everything for a family day out.
A petting zoo, with ride along tractors and a little play area for the kids to imagine they’re a meerkat.
They also do themed displays and events for the likes of Halloween, Easter and Christmas!

We love going along to see the animals too, the donkeys and alpacas are of particular favourite. One day I need to book in for one of the meet the alpaca experiences it would blow the kids minds!

The Beehive cafe serves some of the best season soups, sandwiches, jacket potatoes and more. Perfect to fuel up before you go round the petting zoo or to help recover from the kids asking you to push them round on a tractor ?

Lathcoats is of course a working farm too and make the best apple juice you’ve ever tasted which you can get from the farm shop or smaller bottles with your lunch/breakfast.

There are pick your own events and a whole lot more so keep your eyes peeled for what’s coming up (I unfortunately missed a couple this year).

The farm shop is fully stocked with your favourites and some of the best local and independent brands!

Small but very nice little PYO fruit farm. We did go towards the end of the fruit season so only really found Strawberries and Apples.

The Strawberries were amazing

Free parking available

Nice little cafe and farm shop available too.

Overall a lovely little day out ?

(Probably too late for PYO right now as summer is done but next definitely will be back)

We went for the PYO at the end of August. As it is outside peak season, you pay £1 entry per person, which is non refundable. We checked the website beforehand to see which crops were available around two hours before we arrived. We were pleasantly surprised by the abundance of ripe strawberries and plums to pick, which were also delicious. However, other crops that were on the website, such as courgettes and runner beans, didn't have anything to pick in the field, which was disappointing as that was what my mum particularly wanted. The staff said that they must have all been picked before we arrived. The website does include a clause saying the farm doesn't guarantee how much is available, but I do think this could be updated as much as possible throughout the day. Another thing was that the staff mentioned we could wallk freely around the fields, however we saw a large group ahead of us walking the alpacas and the guide very rudely and abruptly told us to not come any farther. Perhaps it would be a good idea for the staff at the PYO entrance to mention this before entering as it was quite disconcerting.
The farm shop is really good with a nice selection of stock. The cafe staff are really friendly and the food is so well presented. Could do with more seats, but there is a separate section for families, which is such a wonderful idea. The farm is also a special treat with the animals being very tame. Great afternoon out!

Had a wonderful morning walking with the alpacas. The handler was so knowledgeable and the two younger helpers with her were fantastic.
The animals were in amazing condition and were very well behaved too!
Would recommend this to anyone for an experience.

Great place to stop at for a coffee and cake and then to feed some animals! Not huge but there is still a good selection of farm animals that you're able to feed! Good for all ages. I will certainly be returning with the little ones and have already recommended to family and friends nearby to Chelmsford! Gorgeous place to pick your own fruit as well 🙂 fantastic day out!

We came here for afternoon tea. Our table was reserved, the staff were friendly. The food was excellent. We had more than we could manage and were offered boxes to take the extra home which we gratefully accepted.

Prosecco on the table in individual bottles or swap for their own apple juice, we enjoyed both. Delicious sandwiches, massive and delicious fruit scones with clotted cream and Tiptree strawberry jam. Delicious home made cakes. 2 servings of a hot drink of your choice included.

Highly recommended and excellent value for money.

Nice selection of animals, good shop with friendly and helpful staff.
