Hired it out for a tea party. Lovely food. Reasonably priced cream tea. The extra drinks were a tad overpriced.
Went there today with two others (14th 09 2024) deluxe cream tea £18 - Brioche breakfast bun £7.50 prawn crayfish baguette with salad & fries £11.50 plus 3 teas - scone , jam and cream - piece of bread pudding. £59 with service charge. Sat on their patio/deck outside. Table service was very good even though they were very busy.

A great find. This is a brilliant place to eat and drink. One of the best eating places I've been to. Open for breakfast right through until late night. Music often played here too. Handsome staff, great chefs, nothing to fault.
We will be back. Can't wait. Love it, love it, love it.

Food was lovely! Also the accompanying salad to my rarebit was nice - lots of freshly cut and flavoursome tomatoes, peppers and onions and not too heavy on the greenery (how did you even know that was my preference?!) It was busy but no one rushed us along and the staff were attentive and friendly.

Nice staff my avocado breakfast was lovely however poached eggs too hard for my liking.
The ramekin of beans was quite frankly a joke so my friend asked for some more and got charged twice we’d already said this would happen.
Tea pots too small. I asked for hot water but was told the male boss would not be happy as I should buy another tea.
We’re going to ruxley next time. They do a great breakfast

The views of the countryside are nice BUT...unfortunately the customer service isn't: my friend was left waiting for ages, about 25 minutes for her lunch and she wasn't given a discount, instead the coffee that I had ordered was offered on the house. When I pointed out that it should be my friend compensated for the slow service and not me, the woman on the till said they did not know who had ordered the coffee and that if I wasn't happy about this then I should pay my friend the price of the coffee! All very weird! And also, the rarebit I ordered which consisted of one slice of bread, melted cheese and the tiniest salad i've ever seen, set me back £8. So definitely won't be going back!

I've always felt some of the staff were unwelcoming and standoff ish and the service is slow, but I have been back a few times as the food has been nice.
This time, I was welcomed. However, after I politely requested to change an item on my meal. The waitress quipped, "we can't make any changes, its a value meal". Despite having been allowed previously to do so. After this interaction, the waitress didn't bother to check if our food was OK or whether we needed anything. Moreover, all of the waitresses seemed moody and appeared as if they didn't want to be there. One of them said they were understaffed, which I can appreciate is challenging but it shouldn't be a detriment to customers.
The food was in the main well cooked, however, the bacon was tasteless and the fat was not crispy. The highlight was the hashbrowns and it was a decent sausage. After reading some other reviews, I guess it wasn't just in my mind about the lack of warm service. Won't be back in a hurry, plenty of much friendlier and nicer places to eat. Such a shame.

Spur of the moment afternoon tea. First time here and can highly recommend. Staff polite and friendly. Scrumptious sandwiches and the best scones I've ever tasted. With a beautiful view to make a lovely time even better. Definitely be back.

As many others mentioned here, the staffs are awful. Unwelcoming and just plain rude.
"Mistakenly" serves you fruit bowls with your pancakes, then tells you "well you ate it, so pay for it."
Is this your usual scheme?
I don't mind paying for it, we even ordered one more but the rude behaviour is just appalling.
Not ever coming back here.
Please don't work in the service industry if you don't have even the basic manners.
