Nothing really remains of the actually castle, however there is a magnificent brick gatehouse which now serves a multitude of purposes. These include offices, wedding venue and you can actually arrange a tour.
The small park is very nice with a children's play area, walks and a small river occupied by ducks.

We had our wedding ceremony in Hertford Castle and we were absolutely impressed by the outstanding staff at the venue. Jackie was so lovely and helpful and we felt looked after from the moment we spoke on the phone to her to express our interest. Everything was absolutely smooth and as perfect as it could be. We had the loveliest time at Hertford Castle and we would highly recommend this venue to anyone.
Thank you so much for everything, Hertford Castle! This place would always hold a very special place in our hearts.

Wedding: lovely grounds, appalling venue. Quite simply, it’s stunning from the outside, but inside for the wedding I was at its tiny - two small rooms, thin corridor and tiny bar area. If the weather’s dodgy you will be very tight for space. Not wheelchair friendly. Chairs removed from the two rooms blocked the corridor. It’s a shame, but there you go.

I love the castle park and gardens beautiful at all times of the year. Many boards around the castle giving you all historical information you'll need. Close public toilets. The castle itself has open days for the public and holds many functions it also has a conservatory which grows an assortment of fruit and vegetables that are then preserved and can be purchased at the local tourist information site opposite. It is set near the centre of the beautiful historical town of Hertford has a play area for children and summer house and has open air days such as rock in the castle held every year. You can find all the information for this on the website.

Great gardens to chill and relax while catching rays in spring and summer. Lots of ducks, geese and swans to look at. Just be aware of the gate closing times at different times of the year.

A nice quiet and clean garden, so sat and ate a sandwich whilst birds flew around. A cheeky jackdaw sat perched on a branch opposite me waiting for crumbs. I wish I took a pic of it,, starring me out. The gardens are very picturesque for a small garden. I took a walk around the the front of the gatehouse, watched the ducks for a while before heading back to town.
