First time at this farm shop today in Houghton le Spring and greeted well by the staff. Great customer service. Nice clean shop.
I spent just over £18 , initially going in for just eggs, chicken pie & Cappuccino.
I also got a scotch egg yummy 😋 marinated chicken skewers, treacle tart, and a pork pie.
Prices aren't too bad, especially with better quality of meat & sweet treats.
Has a cafe, in which I will go in another time.
5 disabled parking bays outside of the shop; & a huge car park.
Has a lot of seating area, I can imagine it is nice in the summer & has a play park.
I will definitely be back again soon.

Had a fantastic brunch of Pancakes with Bacon and Maple syrup, Sausage, egg and swiss cheese breakfast bun, flat white and a pot of tea. The food was delicious and the staff are friendly. My wife also enjoyed a look around the farm shop. Highly recommend

My previous experience of the farm shop has been great but I came recently with a group of 7 girls and we were all treated so rudely by the staff. When we arrived at the desk I said we hadn’t booked but asked if there were any tables inside for coffee and cakes, or if not we would sit outside. There were so many available tables inside but the women said because we hadn’t booked we’d have to sit outside. It was sunny but still quite cold and would have preferred sitting inside. When ordering, some of the girls asked about alternative diary-free milks and was spoken to really rudely - my friend asked for coconut or almond milk and the lady stared at her and said it’s either oat or soya and that’s it. The drinks were brought out in two rounds, and when they brought the second rounds over they got the drinks wrong (some with syrups, some without) and did not offer to re-do them. They were brought out by different people, the woman who brought out the second round of drinks said “well I don’t know what was brought out before so I can’t tell you what it is”. I went into the farm shop as one woman was bringing out the drinks and said “oh perfect timing” and held the door open for her to which she sternly said “where are you sitting?” although we were the only ones sat outside. My friend overheard the first women I spoke to say to a colleague “I thought it would be easier putting them outside”, so we probably could have had a nice warm table inside. Such a shame as it’s such a little gem with lovely cakes but the rude service completely overshadowed the whole experience!

We did not use the shop, we just had coffee and teacakes. The teacakes were rather pricey but worth it as they are well above average. However, I am not sure if we will return because it was so noisy as to be unpleasant. This was owing to all the surfaces in the eating area being flat and hard. People's (loud - because of the noise) conversations just rattle round. Some fabric wall hangings would much improve the ambience.

A warm welcome and an interesting menu, the staff(even though they were very busy) were helpful. I can highly recommend the gammon with rosemary chips, salad and roasted tomatoes. The whole meal was very well presented, although I only managed to eat half of my plate, but what I had was beautiful. My companions both had the hot beef sandwich with chunky chips and they both really enjoyed it. We also had a mini fresh cream Victoria sponge cake with a fresh strawberry on top with a latte. Including drinks and desserts I spent less than £60 in total. We will be returning.

Love this farm shop, everyone is very friendly. There is a good variety of food on sale. The meat is presented well and not so expensive as many other farm shops I have bought from. Good quality too. The pork pies are also delicious. There is a play area and seating area outside. If you want to bring the children for a run around. Great place.

Great food, excellent location.
Absolutely awful music and far too loud. But it can’t even escaped outside. Not very relaxing.

Came here today to play, eat and stock up on good quality meat . This place has always had great quality food and I have always enjoyed the ambience, though the prices do reflect this.
Ordered 5 meals today which took 57 - 62 minutes to arrive . We were not warned of the long wait time , nor did anyone offer an apology until our last dish came .
Fish and chips - ordered two of these, portions are generous and tasty. Unfortunately one of the dishes had very thick albeit crunchy batter which tainted the experience.
Sausage in giant Yorkshire puddings, this was a beautifully presented dish, unfortunately there was no option to have the gravy on the side which made the Yorkshire pudding soggy. Despite being warned that the plate was hot ..the mash was cool.
8Oz burger- this was a huge disappointment. Burger bun was very oily which had to be blotted before eating, no house salad as advertised, pattie was dry.
Chicken wrap- really nice wrap though too wet to eat with hands. The honey in the dish became overpowering towards the end but overall I would recommend this dish.
The real take home from today is the attitude of certain members of staff. Sorry costs nothing and being a polite goes a long way.
Cost £86.10...
