I always try pies from butchers as I like to support this scerce type of shop and very often I get really good ones. Unfortunately the steak and Guinness pie I bought a few days ago was truly awful. The filling had little taste and not even a hint of the Guinness that was supposed to be in it. Worse was the pastry which was quite sweet!. Did they put sugar instead of salt in the mix?
Also bought sausages which were OK but nothing special. I will continue to buy my pies from Sweeney Todd in reading. Bit more expensive but far superior to any where else
