Food here was good, fresh and flavourful. Beef Lasagne was tasty, chopped salad fresh and my partners ’All Day Breakfast’ was good. It’s what you’d expect in a good cafe. We sat in the undercover area with our dog at lunchtime, on a warm and sunny day.
Staff were friendly and helpful in the cafe, service was quick for a busy lunchtime, but this place is full of ‘contradictions’

To start, there’s a passive aggressive notice saying “dogs will be banned if owners can’t pick up their dogs’ poo” - not a great first impression? See photo.

When we asked for a bowl of water for our dog, the waitress told us “environmental health won’t let us bring you one, for ‘health and safety reasons’ but there’s a tap outside and bowls are positioned everywhere” - so we organised a bowl of water for our dog from the tap whilst we waited for the food order.

The times when dogs are allowed inside the main cafe are clearly displayed on notices, yet it seems exceptions are made outside of those times as a table (with a dog) being seated across from us said they “wanted to be inside” so they were seated inside. Even though Saturday isn’t one of the days listed as ‘dog friendly’?

The menu says order and pay at the table, but we were asked to pay at the till inside, a different waitress was delivering a bowl of water to the table for the people with the dog!

When in the shop all of the fridges with food displays have signs stating ‘do not open, please ask for assistance’ - all of them. So, I stood at the till behind another customer who was paying waiting my turn with a list in my head, but the woman at the till ignored me, picked up her mobile phone, started talking to whoever called, asking “don’t you have the number for the cafe?”, she blanked me completely and walked off into the cafe! I waited for a moment, but found myself questioning why I was spending both my time and money in a place where the service is so poor? Decided to spend both elsewhere!

Whilst looking for my partner and the dog (dogs are not allowed in the shop, understandable, as they sell food as well as gift items) I noticed lots of debris/untidiness in the outside areas, see photo - certainly not a great lasting impression either?

To summarise - We won’t be returning!
Food was good, but we were left with a sense of ‘dog tolerance’ not friendliness, plus total contradictions and confusion as the staff didn’t seem to have any consistency and the woman in the shop was just downright rude!

Fab, quality food served in a lovely countryside cafe. Amazing sausages made with Wagyu beef from their farm. My full Scottish breakfast was one of the best I’ve tasted anywhere.

My grand daughter and I had a lovely breakfast. Service was immediate and food delivered quickly by amazing staff.

Went again with husband, daughter and dog and must say the service was fantastic as usual with the addition of a sausage delivered on a plate so she wasn’t left out. I’ll never be allowed another visit without her lol. Many thanks to everyone, you are all first class.

Thoroughly impressed with this place. The food is excellent, prices very reasonable, portions generous and staff were lovely. It's a shame it was so wet and we weren't able to see all the animals but we bought some items in the farm shop too. We will 100% be back.

A lunch with my daughter first time visit, menu is varied but maybe not as much for kids, fussy ones at that 🙈 I ordered chilli chicken baguette and my daughter ordered ‘naked hot dog’ which I took to be plain bun and sausage but bun was filled with cheese and onion but thought maybe that was their version of ‘naked’ so didn’t make a fuss but our server noticed it wasn’t ate and when I raised it she checked and chef had made the bun wrong so we were not charged and that is very reasonable so I appreciate that. Everything else was fine, clean area and swift service and my daughter enjoyed seeing the alpacas so will definitely be back to try again.

Friendly, attentive staff. Happy to move us as table beside us were having fun but 2 of our party were hard of hearing so struggled to hear conversation.
Food amazing. Mine came shortly after rest of table and because of this they didn't charge me for mine. Incredible gesture as I really wasn't bothered at all.
