I feel like this is a hidden gem in Bakewell!

We wanted to have a late breakfast but kind of fed up with pub food and pastry at this point. I wanted to check this butcher out for local produce but assumed they only sell food that needs cooking. Then I saw there was a hot cabinet from the outside and the sign said pulled pork with apple sauce in a baguette!! I was like that’s exactly what I wanted.

It turned out to be potentially the best sandwich ever. It had lots of tender meat (very generous), stuffings and apple sauce in a big (long) crispy baguette. It was £5.5 or something , which was a great value for what I got.

You must come here for the sandwich, you won’t regret it. I’d love to get their chicken sandwich next time.

Excellent customer service, very knowledgeable staff and can trace their products right back to the farm. I got some beef mince, 2 garlic and black pepper chicken breasts and 4 Matlock Bangers (called into the Matlock branch but can't seem to find it on Google Maps) which is the leftover meat that doesn't quite make it through the sausage casing machine so it has its own flavour and then subtle flavours of all the other sausages that have been through it, sounded delicious!

Wow, what an excellent butcher's! Well, 'butcher's' doesn't do Gingers justice. It's also a sandwich shop (my wife said her turkey panini was delicious) and a very well stocked deli. We stopped for lunch after the Monsal Head hill climb. My Bakewell pasty was one of the best pasties I've ever had: it was full to the brim of minced beef (skirt and chuck steak) and fresh veg. The Snickers slice was another decadent treat. Thank you to the tall, male staff member who served us: you did a great job.

Called in today had hot pulled pork sandwich with stuffing absolutely divine and also purchased a large pork pie. Service was excellent. Will definitely call again.

The Ginger Cooks catered our wedding in September last year on possibly the hottest day of the year - and we had chosen a roast dinner! The food was perfect, especially considering the very hot conditions and all of our guests were raving about the quality of the food and friendliness of the staff. We had a cheese tower and pizza in the evening too - everything went down so well! We had a lot of email communication with Emma on the run up to the wedding and she couldn't have been more helpful or flexible as well! Highly recommend for any big event catering!

The Ginger Butchers provided a delicious hog roast on our wedding weekend near Bakewell. Kate and Tom were fab with a quick and discrete set up and easily served our party of 100. The rolls were delicious and the veggie option was really enjoyed by the veggies as well! Would highly recommend!
