Fab friendly canteen and microbrewery! Hidden away but worth seeking out… proper home cooked food, delightful staff and more importantly, awesome beer! Pork bap with apple sauce, gravy, stuffing and crackling served with roasties for £6 😬, bakewell tart and custard £3 😬 what’s not to love 😍

What a place! Who would know such an amazing little micro brewery in the cradle of the railway. Located in what was once the heart of the British rail workshops, the canteen.
Credit to the owners who have made a fantastic bar, along with great menu choices.
I've visited several times now and sampled a few of the beers on offer. Nothing disappoints here so grab your wallet and forget to have your tea! Take your time enjoying the beers and your meals made for you.

Legitimately saw two members moving casks with different names on into the back of brewery. One asked "should we be doing this?" And the other said "Yes because we are evil" then he laughed maniacally....seemed very strange....

Had a beautiful breakfast lovely Cumberland sausage in fact it was all verry nice and old pictures of shildon miner's or railway men having dinner in the hall never tried there own beer I'll have to go back SOON
