We like to help trade at local businesses, so we visited - I was taken aback at how rude they were, ok the young guy was maybe attempting a joke to try and appear older in front of his experienced peers, but it wasn’t good customer service - maybe do that ‘joke’ to a person that you know, as to me, as somebody who wanted to come in and ask a few questions, to learn, it was bad as I felt uncomfortable, therefore I walked out.

We will re-try the place, and I will hopefully edit my review as I don’t want to give 1/5.

If you want to buy good quality produce, be certain from where it originates, and be sure the animals were well cared for, then this is the place for you!

Been coming here for years. Wouldn’t go anywhere else, especially for a Sunday joint or quality cut - they’ve never let me down, pork belly and beef rib in particular always exceptional. And home made saussies delicious and very reasonably priced!

I prefer smoked ham rather than Green. But I agree 2 thick slices of ham for 2 people for a main meal is a bargain at under £3 each.
A nice thick slice is almost a gammon joint!
Great butchers always keen to sort out just what you want. We even ring through our order and just pop in and collect.

This review is based on the customer service of who appeared to be the manager.
I ordered 2 rib eyes from this butchers, big ones £25 for the 2. When I got home it was clear they'd given me 2 sirloins. I bought these for my wife's birthday meal so had to eat them as no other options (they were ok, not bad not great).
The next day I went in to discuss what had happened going to get a some sort of deal on the steaks I actually wanted.
I was told that I still got 2 good steaks... Just not the steaks I wanted. He was unwilling to budge on price despite their mistake and offered no apology.
Had it been 2 normal steaks that I was grilling I wouldn't mind. But 2 special occasion steaks that I was cooking in a specific way and that I had asked for specifically, I had to say something.
Tbh, I would have been happy had he just apologised and explained why he couldn't offer any gesture of good will whatsoever.
If you do happen to order from here, ask to see your order before it's bagged.

Went in to get some lamb chops the other day. Straight from the get go, the conversation was stuck on how much dearer the meat was because he sourced it from a farm and joked about charging me a tenner rather than a fiver for the meat (without a joke demeanour). Made me feel extremely uncomfortable. All I wanted was a bit of meat and yet I found myself on the receiving end of conversations to do with inflated price of meat I was about to be charged. I wasn't given any change for my money either as the three pieces of lamb chop apparently came to exactly a fiver. I even tried desperately to change the conversation or make it a bit lighter, but it was crystal clear I was being treated differently for some reason. The first & last time I ever set foot in this butchers. Stubbornly rude staff, especially with a local such as myself. Disgusting behaviour.
