First class establishment from staff to product. Pork chops cut to desired thickness were some of best I’ve ever had. Whole briskets, pork shoulder & boneless chicken thighs all top tier. Can not recommend highly enough.

Remarkably ignorant about meat.
They didnt know how to prepare the two rack of lamb cutlets. Left the bone on, so I had to use a cleaver to separate them after cooking. Had various meaningless certificates in the window, as if that somehow proved they know what they are talking about.

We have lived in a village outside Henley for 25 years and as we don’t eat a lot of meat, when we do it has to be Matchins!
They are always so friendly and the meat is superb. Tomorrow our family are coming for Sunday lunch and I have just picked up a beautiful loin of pork. Which has been prepared just as I asked. Thank you

While visiting Henley we had the pleasure of visiting this high quality shop: great cheeses from UK and Europe, meat, fresh fish, charcuterie and even great bread in a relatively small space. During our visit we first bought a selection of cheeses and the house pork sausages; the next visit a trimmed 1" thick sirloin steak (cut to our requirements); next a fresh 1 kilo Dover sole; and finally a thick slice of halibut. 4 great meals because of top quality products sold by knowledgeable, affable staff: a joy which we would repeat regularly if we didn't live over 600 miles away

Not only the best butcher in the area, but one of the finest butchers you will find anywhere. They have a fantastic selection of sausages made in-house. Their meat is extraordinarily good (I am from the US and rate Machin's steaks & rib of beef with the best the US has to offer). They source everything with great care and will prepare your selection to your specification. The staff are very knowledgeable and always helpful. In addition to meat, they have an excellent selection of fresh seafood, amazing cheeses and their own-smoked delicacies. If you're lucky, they will have a tray of fresh, warm sausage rolls on the counter! Get stuck in.
