Flatford Mill is an extensive traditional Victorian style, red-brick millhouse. It was made famous by John Constable, himself the son of a miller, who often made studies on this very spot. These later became the oil masterworks that still bring this rural Suffolk outback attention so many decades later. Now a preserved building, Flatford Mill has long been redundant for the purpose it was designed, but has been repurposed by the Field Studies Council for their curriculum of short educational courses & student accomodation.

Absolutely stunning place. We visited here as a family of 12 with the eldest being 65 and youngest 8 everyone loved it. Lovely little cafe serving hot drinks, snacks and lovely cakes. They also serve doggy ice cream. There are row boats on the river which is also good for a swim. When the weather is right this really is a fantastic place for a relaxing day.

Absolutely beautiful place to take a walk around, you can also bring your own canoes/kayaks and it links back to the boathouse, stunning views, very clean and just a all round fantastic place to visit. Only downside is there isn't much to do, there's no activities or a proper museum etc. Which is shame! There's a small visitor centre and toilets next to the disabled parking, loads of parking available and easy to access.
