I’m a Lincolnshire lad - well, no longer a lad but over 60 years ago, we discovered the Lincolnshire sausage. Raised on ‘em - loved ‘em.
Moving around as I have, hugely disappointed not to discover a similar masterpiece - until my wife discovered Cream Rose, a boutique in Fenstanton, Cambridgeshire (if you ladies want a “one off” outfit, this is the place to go.)
Anyway, across the road, a family butchers - gave it a try. The closest I’ve ever felt to my home County, but………………..back to the early eighties.
I had a peripatetic job - moved around the Country. Landed renting a village cottage near Corby. Local pub - gave it a try. They had won the National Steak & Kidney Pie competition. Well, why not?
I became a regular having moved permanently to Northampton but, then Keith gave up the pub and moved to a B&B North West.
Many decades on, not only did I find a replacement Lincolnshire Sausage but also, a steak & kidney pie I had lost the taste of.
Stuff the Supermarkets - if you have a car or access to one via a valued neighbour, friend or relative, head for Fenstanton’s Family Butcher - I might just see you there.

Since moving to the area and trying out a few different butchers I found this gem. Great quality meat for a good price. Far better than any supermarket quality. The butchers are all really friendly and always cut my meat exactly the way I like it. I'd definitely recommend this place.

I ordered some off the bone mutton, in large diced pieces. This was ordered and prepared for me as requested. I cooked it for my particular dish and it was absolutely fantastic. If you like mutton ir fancy a change from lamb, get it from here. Superb quality.
