Gardens are quite well kept and lawn looks freshly cut and neat, the gardens had a conservatory with nice fountains in and a couple of view points but these are gardens that do not have a lot of planting or flowers therefore if you prefer colour and various planting styles it may be worthy visiting Helmsley walled garden instead which is nearby. We found we could only spend about an hour leisurely wandering round. However the parkland looks much bigger and ideal for dog walks. There is the birds of prey on site too for an extra charge however if you were to visit both it could make for a great afternoon out.

Attended the 36th Farm Yard Party motorcycle rally. Had a great time in beautiful surroundings the statley home and norman castle all add to the atmosphere. There is also a falconry centre with displays daily.

This is a very plain and average estate compared to others. In the grounds essentially there's nothing of interest, its your basic walk in the open with a few trees and a bit of a lake. Virtually no effort has gone into land management or making the walk pretty and interesting. You should go to the birds of prey office to pay a £1 each to walk around the grounds but you can easily not do this and just walk.
Don't rush to come here to wake around the grounds.

Large wide open space with several moderate walks and a good way to do a circuit up to the Cleveland Way and back to Helmsley. Nice views of Helmsley and the Castle, Duncombe Hall, and access to the Bird of Prey Centre. Ideal for dog walkers.

An excellent open ground for fairs and rally. I was attending the Great Yorkshire Traction Engine club rally, open to the public. It was on over two days and I went for one. There were small and large engines, classic cars and vintage bicycles and motorcycles. See pictures below. Also a reasonable range of food outlets and a bar. Provision is also made for children with fairground rides and a bouncy castle. There were a good sprinkle of enthusiasts but lots for families with children.

It is difficult to find entrance using Sat nav. Payment was by cash only! No cafe ( hence 4 and not 5 stars) The grounds were beautiful, a particularly beautiful orangery. The groundsman and the lady working with the plants on site should be commended for exemplary care and dedication. Both incredibly knowledgeable.
