Second time we have stayed at this hotel.|The receptionist was professional, friendly and welcoming. When he saw us around the hotel he always had time for a "hello" and a smile.|Stayed in the Summer House. Comfortable and clean with splendid views.|We stayed during the recent freezing spell so although our room was lovely and warm, the bar and restaurant area was not.|Had dinner one night. My wife ordered Ceasar salad with extra chicken. The salad was just lettuce and the chicken was dry and small.|Breakfast was fine.|Another tip: When we had a couple of drinks at the bar before dinner, we were asked if we wanted to add it to the tab.|We made the mistake of agreeing, not realising that a 10% service charge for dinner was added. This resulted in me paying £6.93 for a pint if Peroni that should only cost £6.30.|Woukd definitely stay again.

We were looking for somewhere to break our journey home and decided upon here. It fitted the bill perfectly. Pleasant people, lovely surroundings. Good food. Booze a little expensive unless you are a member of the Golf Club.||Will use it again as a journey breaker.

As soon as you drive into the grounds you're blown away that this picturesque and tranquil spot is just a stones throw away from the hustle and bustle of society. ||||The view is splendid, the staff were excellent. Stayed in Lake view, which made the stay feel like a retreat. The room was pleasant. Only downside was the bed. I would definitely visit again!

Gorgeous location. Staff were all really helpful. Just be aware that you might be staying in one of the outside rooms. Although perfectly nice they aren't the big, fancy rooms you see in the picture and possibly not suitable if you have mobility needs. Bar nice and relaxed and food great.

Quiet hotel in extensive grounds on outskirts of Newbury. Staff were excellent. Large bedroom and bathroom. Good walking in grounds and nearby. Good food in restaurant, reasonably priced. Half hour drive to Basildon Park National Trust property

Didn't stay - played golf and ate in the bar. Golf course in very good order. I interesting layout but would definitely recommend a buggy as some big walks green to tee. Food in the bar was excellent and good value. All staff welcoming, pleasant and helpful for the whole of our visit.

Very helpful staff. Room clean and tidy. Bar/restaurant on site well priced. Quiet on a week day. Restaurant was going to close early but still did me a meal. Food very good.

Lovely stay. Huge room in the house, bit tired but added to the charm. Plenty of nice walks in the grounds. Definitely go again
