Myself and my husband have been going to Dobbies Ponteland for awhile now and we've always wanted to try the Afternoon teas. So we decided to have the Luxury Afternoon Tea, we weren't disappointed it was amazing, lots of it we ended up taking some home. Staff were lovely as always. Thanks to Mel she was very helpful.

Today I had lunch with my family, lunch was very nice, BUT, yes like lots of comments the staff unfriendly, abrupt, long queue for food and hot drinks, quiet annoyed when stood waiting for coffees the woman took our hot food to a table, we were still stood in the queue!!!! Rather rude, our food was obviously in the way under the hot lights, employ more staff to clean and clear the cafe, give staff lesson in manners. Lots of simular reviews...

Been twice now to Dobbies for a wander round the store & a lunch/coffee, we decided on Sunday that we won't go back because of the absolutely terrible staff who work in the coffee shop, either the one who thrust our scones at us is mute or incredibly rude, Got a row off her the first time we visited as I was not waiting in the 'proper' area! Maybe if they actually spoke to their Customers or were a little polite we'd know where to wait having never been before, gave them benefit of doubt as everyone has 'off' days, this female who served us shouldn't be in a Customer facing job, clearly dissatisfied with her career choices, having worked in Customer Services all my working life it costs nothing to say Hello & be polite, we weren't hoping for a full blown conversation but politeness costs nothing! You've lost customers, we definitely will not return.

Isn’t great here ngl. The foods fine it’s as standard but the coffee is sub par I don’t appreciate having unsweetened cocoa powder on my cappuccino ugh. I think you’ve got the wrong people on the coffee machine. Very slow service and the lady with a smacked arse face had to ask me twice what I had ordered and if I had paid yet when i was waiting for my coffee because they changed till staff 3 times whilst waiting

Never had a bad experience with any of the staff we always have a good time having dobbies breakfast. Staff get 5/5 honest they're doing their best you can tell.

Bad score is for constant annoying tannoy announcements done by someone who clearly has nothing better to do with their time. I'm guessing he's the manager because of his fancy waistcoat.

Maybe just try and do an announcement more like every 30 minutes or so rather than every 30 seconds. No ones listening anyway and it's become a bit of an in joke with us whenever he starts up again.

It looks like your staff might need help behind the counter or serving in the restaurant maybe try that instead of broadcasting?

Visited today for the afternoon tea and planting experience and have to say thank you to the lady from the cafe and the lady demonstrating the planting ( sorry I didn’t catch their names) but they were absolutely fantastic and nothing was too much trouble for them. It was excellent value for money and we’re over the moon with our planters and looking forward to the next one.

If I could give 0 stars for both service and quality of food in the cafe I would.

I visited the cafe on the 12th of October to be greeted by attitude from Lisa because I asked for eggs Benedict to be told we don’t do that but it’s on the menu, I asked for poached eggs on toast and she replied with “I’ve already told you we don’t do poached eggs” firstly no need for the attitude and secondly there was only mention of there being no eggs Benedict not poached eggs. When my fried eggs on toast came it came with egg shell in it also.

I went to the customer service desk to be told by the manager Jamie that the attitude from the cafe is an issue within the store and to email the manager.ponteland email FAO Paul which I’m still yet awaiting a reply on.

Definitely wouldn’t go back and definitely wouldn’t recommend to anyone.
